So I read all the threads about sunroof leaks. All my drains are now draining. It was hard to locate the p-s drain outlet in the front b/c of that heat shield but I used the zip tie technique-thanks for that pearl. I lubed and then removed a petroleum based ointment on the weather strippings. Anyhow the drains gulp down water easily.
Question: Took a test run at the car wash-one of those automated ones at the gas station. Initially on the first rinse with the power washer, water beads formed immediately-a quick wipe and on other passes with the high pressure wash no other moisture. Is this normal with high pressure wash. Is it fixed. What is your experience? I am tempted to get another car wash to see what happens.

I would say yes .
after messing with the sunroof on the 92 and cleaning all the crap out . Then pulling a whole unit from a junked cruiser and getting a good look at it . The seal is more for wind then water . The drains do fine for rain but take a nozzle and shove water right into the sunroof at very high pressure your going to see some water bounce out of the drain gutter .

sun roof are over rated IMO expecailly when you have a roof rack!

I've been lucky. Never had a leak in my '92 nor in my '97. Never hit it with a car wash hose though.....

No leak the 92' damn you are lucky. I got tired of cleaning the roof so I just sealed it shut with silicone.

That is the news I am looking for. I just don't any surprises during the winter. And now my drains are all patent. I will just have to do more handwashing.

I hand wash mine more than not, Its hard to find a good autowash that the cruiser will fit into, Not to mention its easier to get all the crud off and inspect the rig. It is a bit harder in the Winter though.
Good luck

I know that if you close the sunroof from the sliding position, rather than from the tilted position, wind noise is greatly reduced. Maybe the same principles apply for leaks?

My '94 doesn't leak even when hit with a high pressure hose. I also use mine on a very (almost daily) regular basis. I wonder if there is a connection?

Mine leaks a few drops in some car washes also on an intermittent basis but never had it leak in real life conditions and have been in some major T-storms.
