Hey guys,

So I am now the proud owner of our new 2001 100 series.

Picked it up in Tracy, CA last week with 74k on it. The inside and engine bay look as if it just rolled off the show room floor. The leather looks new, even the drivers seat is barely broken in.

The wife gave it a once over and said.."this is way to nice to wheel, I want it." After some discussion this week, I have decided to by another one for myself.

Tonight I found a 99 with the rear locker, one owner with all records well maintained but has 183k on it. I am not going to daily drive this. It will be my mod rig and home depot run rig...

Should I not worry too much about the mileage since it has been maintained well?

It is also the same color as the one I just bought. I really like the color best and figured, oh well, it is what it is....

I regularly drive an 80 with 245K miles on it. Only concern for you with the 100 series at 183K is you are due for your second timing belt change about now- may be able to bargain down price slightly, as that can be a $1000 repair if you also replace water pump, cam seals, etc while you are already in there.

Our 2000 daily driver is very close to 180K, and we took it on a 8K mile road trip this summer. I have no mileage worries at all, and wlil drive this truck for at least 50K more miles, if not more.

Privately, you should not worry one bit. Publicly, when you go to buy the truck, you should visible stress about the exceedingly high miles on this truck, with lots of head shaking and hand wringing.

I like your style!

Thanks you guys. I have an excellent mechanic/buddy..Robbie Antonson. I will call him this morning and see what his thoughts are, as well. I pinged Rutbeer last night and he pretty much said the same thing, as long as the maintenance is up to date, should be good for my needs. I will probably only put 100k on it in 7-10 years, probably even less.

No worries, my 1999 just took its 403030 km's the other day... What gets worn is the generator, the starter and most recently the bearing at the rear transmission, the front ball joints and of course the front axels, if you happen to break open the sleeves.... I'm still very happy, have not seen anything else coming even close to these figures with just this kind of wear. And I have been using it heavily off road a few times a year since 2005... Fresh oil around seems to be its only requirement, still no measurable consumption as of this day (of oil, of course LOL)

show us the pics!

Be careful, most folks think a LC is just another vehicle and have no clue about the durability of these beast. Purchased mine with 100k and I am now at 185k. I will be driving this rig for sometime to come.

purchased ours with 14 miles on the clock. It's about to be 12 years old, 159K on the clock and only thing that has failed is starter.

I have the following issues as of right now: leaky exhaust, sticking caliper. Both my fault.

I wouldn't worry about a thing! Mine's a few thousand behind you, and I drive it every day, and wheel it bout every weekend. Check for recent timing belt change, that will need to be done before 200k. Also, I'd check the serpentine belt, transmission fluid, and make sure the rear locker is in correct working order.

Thanks you guys for all the input and comments!

That one I looked at with the high miles did not pan out it was pretty spanked all around. I am going to hold out for another gem!

Meh. My 99 has 230K, and it works hard as a DD and race rig puller. I've had it since new, with very few minor parts replaced [starter, radiator, ac condenser, rear muffler]. Still on the original timing belt [shameful, I know].

You're on the original tbelt at 230k??:eek:

I have 225k on my clock, run it hard everyplace with many mods and have zero worries, though I am on borrowed time with the battery and waiting to wrangle up the needed parts from Slee before I replace it and add a secondary.

I am in the same boat. Wife crashed the LC last week and I ended up buying a new one. It was just too clean and well maintained to pass up.

My only issue is that it is the same, year, color and has the same miles as the one she crashed when we bought it.

Fixing the original one.

Wonder how many times i will walk up to the wrong one or grab the wrong key.

If you end up getting the timing belt replaced, please have the mechanic save the old TB and post the pics here. I'd like to see what it looks like after 230k miles.
