i have a friend who has a unused Hi-Lift All Purpose Mechanical Jack - 7000-Lb. Capacity, Model# HL-484...it has a 38 inch lift range. it is a good price, but very near Northern Tool cost.

for a little bit more, i can buy the 604 model, with a 48 inch lift range.

any thoughts??? on the extra 10 inches.

also, i have the 8274-50 winch, and a bunch of other goodies.

the one from northern tools is a POS, if you were closer id give it to you. the "latch" or w/e you want to call it bows up, its up to flip to to change the direction of the jack. spend the money and get a good one.

Go with the 60" tall version. The top 10" or so on the jack is not recomended to be used for lifting. On a lifted 40 the shorter ones are not tall enough to me.

x2 on the Northern ones being aweful.

wow ... thanks

ok, thanks, can you comment on which brand is best???

did some looking ...

is the Hi-Lift X-TREME, model 605, 60 inch, ... the best there is???

lift bought ... thanks

got the hi-lift , 60 inch, model 605, with accessoreis...thanks

Most Northerns sell both a Hi-lift brand and a knockoff. I've got both and have yet to have issues. But for a few dollars more a hi-lift is a better investment.

x1000 on the Norther Tool chinese rip offs. Hi lifts are scary enough. Vehicle recovery is already scary enough. Throw a cheap, poorly made, and poorly functioning jack into the mix, and you will die. :D

I wish hilift made jacks rated a little higher than 7000#. I feel like my 80 is a little too heavy for it.

X another 1000 for chinese rip offs!
Either a Hi-Lift or the original Jackall (if you are up in the great white north) are the safe bets, good steel, good design, and a properly rated swl.

hi-lift or nothing for the change you are saving you gotta ask what your your safety is worth ???i am sute there is a u tube video in someones future !!

Just got the 60" all cast Hi-Lift from Amazon for $75 w/ free shipping.

I also got the Hi-Lift winching kit.

Any other accessories you guys recommend? Slee Jac-kof?

Hi All:

That is a pretty good price when you consider the shipping cost of a heavy item like a Hi-Lift jack!! :D

Hey "UWDave," you should look-up our club:

It's always handy to have an extra 10 inches...
Not if they say "Oh my god! Get that away from me."

Anyways it's 12 inches. They come in 42", 48", and 60".
