Hey guys,

Has anyone had any experience with Lens off retrofit? I was thinking of getting the LS430 projector or the FX35 projector. I am not comfortable doing this myself and would like to get some feed back as to whether or not it is worth the time, money and cutoff? Thank you in advance.

I have tried the LED bulds, they had great throw, cut off and color but didn't last very long at all.
I have the candlepower H11 retrofit currently and like it but the cut off is terrible.

I did my old 3rd gen 4Runner with projectors out of a 2012 Infiniti M37. It worked out well, but was a TON of work. I bought a second pair of headlights so I could work on them slowly and take my time and not worry about the truck being down.

10-4. That was the plan for me as well. Get a second set of lights and have them shipped somewhere to have the new projectors installed. Was it worth it in your opinion? I really dislike the lack of a cut off with these halogen projectors.

Yes it was definitely worth it on that truck, I don't have the issue you're describing on my GX. I have HID's in the factory housings and have awesome cutoff.

X2, HID conversion using factory housings/projectors in the wife's GX470, and I'm very happy with the cutoff.

Same here. I used stock housings and HID drop ins. I'm happy with the light output relative to cost. Stock Halogen fogs for now. I do have a set of Retrofit source Bi-Zenon FX projectors and HIDs ready to drop into a set of headlights at some point.

Did you guys need to change out the wiring harness? I'm coming from the 80 world, where wires are too thin and points don't matter.

Xenon Depot plug and play kit was just that, uses the factory wiring only for a signal, and has it's own relay harness for the HID setup that connects directly to the battery.

x3 have xenon depot 5ks in mine and am very happy

Anyone willing to post up links to what you guys are running and some comparison videos?

So I have a couple of different HID kits, 35w and 55w ballast and bulbs ranging from 4300K to 6000K and to be honest my CandlePower H9 65w are much brighter than my HID's. I am not sure if the reflectors have been damaged (when i purchased the truck they had 100w HID ballast in them) or what but my cut off isn't any sharper with the HID so for now I will just go with the H9 set up. My wife's 2010 GX460 has a drastic cut off that I am jealous of... LOL

Can you post a pic of your cutoff against a wall? I'm curious if my idea of a good cutoff is your idea of a bad one, lol.

I bought the BPS GL8 LED H11's. Not HID but seemed like they are plenty bright and I like that they are not blue so we'll see how they do. $79 for 12k lumens.

Riflman..... JEALOUS what did you use for your fog lights?

IanB i will try and take some pictures tonight and post them. I will do both the HID and the CandelPower H9's as well
