I thought some others would be interested in this video comparing a HiAce w/ roof conversion vs a 70 series Troopy. I wish they sold these in the US. I would certainly purchase one over a Sprinter to Transit.

I really don't understand the whole effort. Cool as a proof-of-concept, but impractical and costly otherwise.
Definitely smart for Headspace to try to get ahead, though, as one never knows how long the Troopy will be around.

Andrew Cynthia White.. insufferable.

Second that, in particular compared to a VW T6 4motion campervan, which are popular with 'overlanders' here Europe.
Following ASPW' s build with interest. No doubt it will make the Canning Stock route; but for what price & effort. He should have tested it stock on that first; would have been cool... Cheers Ralf

Hello,

It is worth keeping in mind that Andrew St. Pierre White's Hiace needed a significant drive train modification, in order to have proper 4WD.

Part of the modification is proprietary technology, and that is not cheap.

Then comes the roof conversion and equipment bits and pieces.

I am not sure whether 4WD Hiaces are still available.

I would start with a factory 4WD Hiace.
