so I finally got around to replacing the TRE's on my truck all to find out the 80 series ends I bought don't thread into the tie rods...

I was under the impression my hi-steer was set up with 80 series TRE's. Apparently not. I bought the TRE's quite a while ago from Cruiser Outfitters so I think I'm well beyond the return period (plus I opened them). I'm wondering what is the best way to figure out what size TREs I need or maybe I should just get new arms? Is there anywhere around here to buy the tube and have it threaded?

I probably just need to call around and get pricing for just the arms since everyone seems to sell them as a kit. Any recommendations?

BudBilt will make custom arms, threaded to fit your TREs at a very reasonable price.

Go one of the box auto parts stores and see if a 1 ton Chevy TRE will screw into it.

Thanks guys!

The 80 series TREs seem to be slightly too large or just won't thread in

Dumb question, but you're sure you are trying to thread the correct side in each end... left hand thread to left hand thread and right hand thread to right hand thread.

most likely they are 21mm threads. 80 series ends are 23mm thread.

Take a pic of your setup. stock 60 tie rod ends are 23mm. stock 60 drag link ends are 21mm.

If the ends are GM 1 ton they should be 7/8 threads (roughly 22mm) so the 80 ends would be just a touch big.
