Hi, everyone.

I picked up a 2018 LX570 with luxury package last Saturday in LA.

Prior to the purchase, we already had a 2008 RWD Sequoia and a 2023 Rivian R1T for our outdoor vehicles.

This past year, I had fallen in love with fly fishing and ended up taking the Sequoia and Rivian on various trips to the Sierra, but each trip left me wanting a little bit more capable vehicle. I have bunch of friends who are Lexus master technicians, and I always admired their GX vehicles, when compared to the ride of our Sequoia.

It was a long search. I had considered the Sprinter van, the Lucid Gravity, American SUVs, etc etc. And ultimately, I stumbled onto the LX570 last Saturday and drove hundred plus miles up to LA to check out the car. Cosmetic issues aside the vehicle felt solid without frame rust. Friend checked the VIN, and the car was serviced at regular intervals. Test drive for 20 minutes or so made it clear to me that it was the right car for all of the offroading I would ever have to do to get to the fishing sites all over California and probably beyond.

While trying to gather information about the car, I kept running into this forum and realized that this place is the definitive wealth of information, collective experience of LC owners. So I decided to sign up and here I am.

I'm located in La Mesa in East San Diego County. Please feel free to reach out if you like to fly fish!

Welcome! :flipoff2: <----official mud salute

Welcome! There's quite a few of us down here in San Diego, that enjoy the ample overlanding and off-road opportunities in our backyard. Cars and Coffee is a thing for us too.

I encourage you look around as the hivemind here is deep. The 200-series platform already having been out some 17 years now.

I'm a firm believer in the inherent goodness of the OEM design, finding ways to augment rather than replace. It's a Land Cruiser after all, hard to do better, easy to do worse. With some key things, these 200-series and LXs become monsters. Check out my sig for links if you're interested.

Is there a thread with the Cars & Coffee meets discussed?

Welcome as well!

not really. we went up to Escondido/Kit Carson park once last year.
As far as weekly events go you can't beat Rancho Santa Fe. best variety, supercars, porsches, doug demuro and his weirdos, vintage, etc. something for everyone.
i know fourtillfour was having a vintage trucks event once a month.
the toyota4runner/overland guys have lots of events. like lots of them. like they have more parking lot meets than trail days. (burn)

Yup, Rancho Sante Fe Cars and Coffee that happens every Saturday is always a good time. Wouldn't take much convincing to get us out there.

Welcome!

I am around La Mesa as well. Feel free to reach out if you need anything.

I would like to check out your LX in person sometime as I am in the market.

Welcome! Good first pic. Hopefully the cleanest it will ever be. ;) There are a number of active forum members around San Diego so you’re in good company.
I had to make a two week trip to Asia. When I get back, I will have to find touchless dent removal service for a couple of spots then we’ll do a ceramic coat. Then it will be the cleanest it will ever be. :)

Yeah I’m very excited to get to know some San Diego folks!

When you find the dent removal place let me know. Maybe we can get a group deal with them, I got 3 or 4 dents I could get popped as well.

I love your philosophy. I would like to have a clear mission. Right now, I don’t want to modify the car purely for off-roading sake but to have a vehicle that will make it easy to do the things I love. Functional stuff. Since last week, I got new floor mats, center console organizer, console side pockets, ceiling cargo net, and Hamilton CarPlay unit. It’s already feeling very cozy, clean, and modern. I’ll definitely check out the links when I get back home! Thank you!

Awesome! Yeah let’s link up when I get back in a couple of weeks. I’ll be in touch.

Welcome!

Also in Clairemont area!

Lemme know if ya need anyone to convince your wife all your mods you’ll be doing are safety related to protect her and the kiddos.

#doitforthechildren

As for meetups. I’m usually at the cars and coffee in Esco every Sunday am. Lots of cool DIY builds there, mostly cars, not many trucks, but i enjoy the atmosphere, and easy parking. RSF CC is fun, but I’m old, fat, and lazy and parking is a pain

Legendary mud member @badsamaritan is also at the Esco one often with either his sexy Go Fast Chevelle or his Family hauling 570

@sdnative that looks like the 570 I had sent ya the ad for…
