Pics coming soon! Purchased a loaded 2005 LC with Nav, DVD ect.. 90,000 miles w/ 3/36 warranty. Paid 23,000. New tires and clean carfax. Does this sound like a good deal? I luv the truck and can't wait to fix her up! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have been reading about the DT headers. Will they make a big differance? If so how? I know, but I am a newbie.

Lowkey

Congrats and welcome. Post up some pics and tell us what you intend to do with the truck.

Congrats and welcome to the club. has all the maintenance been done on your new cruiser, ie. the timing belt, water pump, etc? If not you need to do that before you do the headers. I believe, most people buy headers because their stock ones are cracked.

Timing belt is part of the 90k service and most change the water pump at that time because you have to remove it to get the the timing belt. If you are good with a wrench you can DIY, otherwise its not not a real cheap deal. If its been changed by Toyota or a certified Toyota tech then you should have a sticker under the hood showing when and at what mileage it was done.

Congrats!!

Congrats...and yes around 90k is when you see most Land Cruisers come up for sale as they are out of warranty and nobody wants to pay the money for the Timing Belt, Water Pump, etc to be completed for the full 90k service. Some less than forthcoming used dealerships wont do it either but it will have a sticker if done...and can get it thrown in as part of terms of sale or cut off top since you will want to do that right away.

Good luck and get her fixed up with TB and Water Pump and then take off the running boards....it gives you 10mpg improvement automatically. :)

Congrats and welcome to the site.

Conrats and welcome. From another newbie.

Congrats! And you bought it at a very good price especially if its in very good shape and not a rust belt rig ;).

Thx for the welcome-here are the pics! 2005 LC!

By the way how much will the timing belt, water pump service cost? Also, someone mentioned removing the running boards would improve mpg. How so? And exactly how much? By the way I luv this vehicle. I used to have a 2008 Tundra and in my opinion the LC killz.

That is one sweet ride! Removing running boards does not really affect MPG but I have heard that removing the cross bars from the roof rack helps ever so slightly. Welcome to the club, you are going to love this vehicle.

EDIT:

...Oh and 90K can run between $1500.00-2000.00 depending one how long your "while you're in there.." list is. I would recommend replacing the water pump too as it is very accessible whlie the 90k is being done. It would suck to have the WP fail 45K miles after your 90K was done as they would have to tear into the engine bay again.

Pics are in another thread. I purchased this truck from Butler Toyota in Macon, Ga. I live in Birmingham, Al. I did a lot of research and thought I got a great deal. Anyone know where I can get an updated Nav disk?

Mike

Does removing the step boards make that much of a diferance?

What are some good mods for a beginner?

Torsion bars. Almost free (you will probably have to buy the largish 30mm socket for the anchor arm bolt).
