Hesitation FIXED!!
First I would like to SHOUT OUT a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that contributes to this forum. I only hope I can now help others as problems arise.
I finally picked up my cruiser last Thursday (9/7/06) from the shop following a complete long block rebuild. This story could be a lot longer but I will keep it short. It took a total of 10 weeks and many hours of me reading this forum to help the mechanic with a few problems. So, on my way home I noticed that although strong the engine had a hesitation in it when I would coast for a couple of seconds then start applying gas again. I lived with this all last week after reading several posts and peaking around the engine a little. My full set of FSMs arrived yesterday (9/15) and I was excited to finally find the suspected incorrect vacuum connection. I purchased ~30 feet of vacuum hose including the line for the PCV valve and went to work. After about an hour Friday night then 2 hours Saturday morning I found it. It ended up to be two connections that were swapped on the passenger’s side of the carburetor and the wrong hose to the main vacuum advance for the distributor. The “Advancer Port” and the “Fuel Cut Port” hoses were reversed. Also the hose with the VTV to the distributor was connected to the sub diaphragm (HAC system) instead of main diaphragm.
Thanks again to all who posted answers to the Hesitation threads, they were very helpful.
