Hey folks, so I am looking to export some vehicles overseas, but honestly am a fish out of water. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to assist it giving me a quick run down of what's needed for it to go out of the states? I am not far from Baltimore so a port is nearby, my concern is just making sure I have all paperwork ready to go.

Didn’t even think of expo portal, good call

It’s going to depend a lot on where they’re going.
Shelved this endeavor for a bit, but sounds like I have a potential buyer popping up.

My point of contact/ business partner (well no incorporated business at the moment) is based out of Uganda, which is where my original question for this post was geared toward, however buyer in this new instance is in Namibia, so the vehicle(s) would be going to Walvis Bay.

Questions mainly are state specific- I am a Virginia resident, so I need to determine as to whether or not for export I have to title vehicles in my name to be exported, since it looks like multiple title copies will be required. If so, then I have to get a dealers license as state of Virginia only allows 4 vehicles to be bought and sold privately per year.

Even though I'm technically a flow through/middle man and logistician-buying with others money to be sent to them and arranging transport to the port- I am afraid I will have to take on a more financially and tax involved role.

Before I beat my head against the wall with Virginia DMV and customs, figured id ask if anyone here has done this.

Interesting post. You want to act as an intermediary for buyers in Africa who want to buy cars from the USA? I didn't realize there was much of a market for such activity, but my experience with the car market in Africa is admittedly pretty limited. Seems fraught to me, but I'll put that aside.

Your questions would probably best be asked of a worldwide logistics company that does business in Namibia. A quick Google search shows that Maersk does: Namibia - https://www.maersk.com/local-information/imea/namibia I'm sure there are others. I'd recommend finding a contact there that can lead you through the process.

Sorry I didn't see the notification you replied.
Re: Fraud. Yes this is in the back of my mind, but i've made it clear that I don't do any purchasing unless I have funds in hand sent by buyer. I am fronting no money of my own.

Stupid me didn't think to search in that manner...thanks for your insight!
