Well first off i am the origninal owner of a 2001 with around 87k miles. I tow a boat with a total weight of around 4k pounds. I wanna know if anyone has any advice for these concerns.

A. The rear of the vehicle sags and is so low sometimes i have trouble getting the trailer off the hitch even with an extended reciever.

B. The power of the vehicle when towing is not that great. Does anyone offer a good chip to get more power out of the engine. I know on some american made trucks a lot of power can be gained.

C. I would really like to put a lift on the truck take off the Running boards and put some bigger tires, I know that would solve problem A but im sure would make problem B a hell of a lot worse.

D. Would putting exhaust and a bigger intake make any real gains that would be worth the cost? What has everyone or anyone done to make the cruiser more capable.

I Could sell the cruiser and buy some obnoxious american made SUV wit ha ton of power but then again it wouldn't be a landcruiser. And i really want to keep my cruiser for many miles to come. Any help would be awesome.

Sounds like you need a Slee Turbo Charger.

Welcome :flipoff2:

A. Change out suspension for heavy weight springs (OME brand is popular) or others have used airbags with good results.

B. There are no significant gains from chips nor exhaust nor intake systems for the Petrol powered LC. Slee Off-road has Turbo kit coming out soon but can be spendy. I'll warn you that Turbo systems can lead to heat problems especially under heavy loads.

C. Yes, going with bigger tires will make matters worse. Don't do it.

D. Changing exhaust can hurt low-end torque. Don't do it.

Look into changing your gearing. Get a set of bigger tires for off-road trips and throw on the 31's for towing.

I agree with Hoser. If you're going to lift it, you could have a set of 33's on a second set of wheels for driving around, offroading, etc. Then when you want to tow the boat, switch back to the 31's and you'll get the added gearing for towing. This may be too low for stock tires, not sure. The other thing that sucks about this plan is if you tow the boat a lot, you'll be switching tires and wheels around a lot.

Okay, let me add... get an indoor vehicle lift, compressor and impact gun.

ha, you guys are funny, that will be good practice for some nascar. I just did the DVD Nav mod so i can watch DVD's while driving. Kinda scary but prett dahm sweet. Any idea on what the turbo kit is going to cost?

There's no official price on the Slee Turbo kit. You'll have to call them and find out. On a related note, did anybody ever buy the UZJ100 Safari Turbo kit years ago? Like the FZJ80 kit, it is also unavailable... except maybe in orders of 25.

There are gains to be had on the V8.... The exhaust manifolds are quite restrictive, unfortunately all the headers out there are for the Tundra V8. There is a chance they will fit, maybe mods needed? I disagree with most in that there is probably some gain in the exhaust, but the manifolds need work first.

After that you can get silly. Many parts from the 1UZ 4.0L V8 can turn the 4.7 into a real monster... rods, heads, cams, intake manifolds. Go have a look over at www.lextreme.com for tons of V8 mods....

You may also consider picking up one of the TRD Superchargers for the V8. They were discontinued for some reason, but still show on ebay often.

Bigmember, welcome to the board! You'll have a fine time here.

(Hope you were joking about the DVDs, though... )

I think you need an ECU module with the supercharger (not sure if it’s a piggy back unit or a new ECU).
