So this is a fun one, started with a nice $35 project to add the rear tailgate light per this thread LC200 Rear Tailgate Cargo Interior Light DIY - Total Cost $26+tax - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/lc200-rear-tailgate-cargo-interior-light-diy-total-cost-26-tax.1202487 and it's turning into a bigger pain than not. I didn't want to bog that thread down with what is seeming like a different issue.

Suffice it to say when installing the light wasn't working.

After digging a bit I found the wires I was tapping into on the switch for the tailgate weren't getting any power (checked with multimeter)- these are wires 1 & 2 of connector S22. Wires 3&4 are showing ~2V

I also started noticing that the side rear light wasn't turning on, and neither were the door puddle lights. I still need to check if any of the underseat lighting is working, but not sure it is either.

I hooked up TechStream and it threw a U1117 "Lost Communication with with Accessory Gateway". I've been trying to dig up info on it and not getting very far. I tried running CanBus Diagnostics and it almost seems to 'hang' trying to pull details for it.

Looking in the FSM I've been trying to trace the wiring via the wiring diagrams which has been a bit tricky at times as so far I'm not finding an 'interactive' diagram so it's PDF to PDF trying to find where the wires trace to.

So right now I'm trying to decipher wiring diagrams...is there anyone more adept at this and/or has an interactive source as I feel like I'm losing my mind trying to jump between what appear to be static PDFs.

Anyone have any idea on the Accessory Gateway? Can't find anything about that either.

If you have the full FSM ISO, use the TIS section not the PDFs. The TIS part has wiring diagrams which are clickable and will flash to highlight what you’re selecting. IMO they still are 20 year old tech but it’s better than the PDF versions.

If you need the full FSM I can send the info but I’m better Atwoz probably has it and is just using the PDF version.

You're spot on, I believe I got it from you at one point :)

I'll look for the TIS section, what I was going through was somewhat clickable, but frustrating that it seemed to be organized by system and trying to trace from there was tough. I'll take a look tonight.

The TIS EWDs still aren’t super intuitive, with clicking links to try and follow from the main diagram to a connector list for instance, getting wacky and refusing to allow back clicks.

But yes it’s much better than the PDF version. I have a little time later and will see what I can come up with.

If it helps, all those lights are out for me, and probably have been since I fiddle with the cargo light. Those wires had voltage before, but don't seem to now. I never connected the two events together.

Different systems, I think. This is the diagram for your switch, and it doesn't have anything to do with the puddle lights and such. It's only wired to the back door lift unit. You don't have the power lift gate disabled do you?

are the puddle lights the ones on the mirrors? if so those are working, I just checked. I haven't had the lights on the door sills for years, no the little hatch side light.

Hey @bloc, I got thrown at first too. So that connector (S22) is actually on two diagrams, the one for the Power Back Door (which I think you listed), but also the Vehicle Interior->Interior Lighting one. The PBD appears to trace wires 3 and 4 of the connector which continue to function fine, but it's the Interior Lighting one that traces wires 1 and 2 that don't appear to be carrying voltage anymore. I could trace part of it and saw the wire harness connections for SK1 and SK2, but started getting lost in the diagram for what was flowing where/connected to what etc. Let me know if it makes any better sense to you.

Puddle lights are the ones on the bottom of the door itself and separate from the step lights. It appears the two of us are experiencing the exact same thing. Will be interesting to see what we can dig up.

So just closing the loop on this. It ended up being the DOME1 fuse. I'd previously checked it, and it looked fine, but decided to try and replace since it seemed the only common denominator and it worked. @grinchy you may want to check yours as well.... the step lights still aren't illuminating, but I had replaced those with rock lights when I installed sliders and they took some hard hits...will trace those later when I have some time. For now though everything is working and the mod worked like a charm!

Great news! I love the tailgate light for evenings camping. Glad you got that sorted!
