OK so big mistake on my part...Looked in the compartment where the flat kit is and...huh...no jack??? CRAP!!! Lucky for me I was not looking in there because I had a flat, I am in contact with the PO to see if he has it...if not any ideas/prices for a new one, not necessarily the OEM jack. Looks like the jask is a Hydraulic bottle jack. if anyone has a pick or somehting that would be great...

CruiserDan any ideas???

Thank you everyone

So...Dumb question but 16" is high enough?

Also is it a pain being that it is a pump jack where the other one looked like you turn it just as you would to lower the spare tire?

Yes. But jacking the vehicle up with OEM jack isn't as smooth as lowering the spare. Remember, you're lifting a 5500 lb rig, versus dropping a 50 lb tire.

For an emergency jack, either is fine. I wouldn't recommend it for regular use, if you do much of you're own maintenance. As you mentioned, the travel is limited, and pumping or turning it all the way up isn't exactly convenient.

I bought this Craftsman one a little over a year ago, to use as my primary working around the garage jack because I wasn't comfortable with the OEM, and I just resently ended up buying a hydraulic floor jack, like I should of in the beginning.

If you can get the OEM bottle jack from Dan for a reasonble price, then you might pack that in the sto-away for emergency, then I'd get a floor jack for around the garage.

The factory jack is expensive. Current list is $136.72 and that does not include the handle.

Anyone have an aftermarket bottle jack mount for a jack such as the Sears model linked above? Since it's not practical to haul my hi-lift around all the time I'd like to carry around a hydraulic bottle jack (as opposed to the POS oem jack) with higher lifting ability but don't want it loose in the vehicle.

If you search around this forum you'll see a link for the red land rover telescoping jack.

I found mine on ebay for $50.

the bottle jack and associated handle is also if nto exactly the same pretty similar to the ones in the early 90s minitrucks. check your local bone yard and you should be able to find one with the handle for less than $20.

Same jack as in 1st generation 4runners and I assume 2nd and newer ones too. Check the junk yards, thats where I found one and the whole tool kit for my old 88 4Runner. Many of the parts, like jack handle and crank are similar if not the same. THe few extra parts in the LC's toolkit I think were screw drivers, center cap remover, and spark plug wrench.

Third on the boneyard. Jack for my 82 4x4 longbed is the same as for my 91 LC.
