I am getting ready to change spark plugs, plug wires and distributor cap. The auto parts shop close by did not have NGK or Denso (which I understand are preferred). They did have Bosch Platinum - these ok or should I get off my lazy backside and drive to the dealer.

Also, any recommendations on plug wires and distributor cap?

Thanks,
Mike (slow newbie)

welcome mike. i'll be the a$$ and recommend that you utilize the forum search as the question you're asking has been covered - very recently too as well.

but to get you going - what to replace your parts with? OEM only is what i'd [and most listees] do. get ahold of CruiserDan through the member directory and he'll get you good prices on your tune up parts - though he'll be back in a week due to Cruiser Moab. you can also order through CCOT which always has those items in stock if you can't wait for Dan.

most people have said that Bosch is nice, but compared to Denso, they aren't all that. same goes for wires and dizzy. go OEM and you won't be let down.

enjoy!

Wait until Cruise Moab is over and give C-Dan a call. He will set you up with Denso plugs and OEM cap, rotor, and plug wires.

I run Bosch Platinum 4 and love them. MSD top of the line
wires and DUI to supply power. Highly recommended. The Pt4 plugs
do need extra juice but if you have the volts they perform better than NGK, Denso and the rest. Rique

I run the Bosch Platinum 4 as well and I like them a lot. You could always give them a try and next time, you can try the NGK or Denso. That way, you can see what works best on your rig.

I get my Bosch PT4 at auto barn for about 6$. Expensive compared to NGK or Denso but well worth the price. I have tried both the
NGK and Denso and I assure you the PT4 are way better. This does not hold true for other cars... Rique

Never had any problems, once I changed the PO's plugs to NGK.

I got factory Denso plugs, wires, cap and rotor from Cdan for $76 including shipping. Had them in 4 days. Theres a reason that Toyota specs Densos at the factory. Stick with what they know.

bosch = suck

those plugs run to hot for 2f's i would only ever buy nippon denso or NGK, NGK makes a special grooved plug for extra performance if you feel as though your being left out because your not buy a $64 bosch spark plug for a toyota engine.
