Help - Noise after rear brake job (3 Viewers)

Hi all
This morning I replaced rear rotors and pads.
Now, when i turn right I hear a noise on the rear left wheel. It sounds like a metal sheet rubbing intermittently. Shhhh-shhhh-shhhh. Only when I turn fast.
I didn't touch my parking brake, but when pulled the rotors off the springs and washers came off and i put them back.
It brakes fine with no noise at all. I checked some other posts and they talk about the bearings, but my noise started after the brake job, wasn't there yesterday.

Check your parking brake cams to make sure they are fully in the open position. Ensure that they are not rusted or binding. If binding, tap back to the open position with the hammer.

Disassemble your work on the side in question. Ensure that the shield for the brake is not bent or binding (unlikely). Check that you reset the barrel adjuster properly for the parking brake after removing the rotor. Check that all internal parking brake pad components are properly seated. If you are using an old rotor, remove the oxidation from the drum brake lip surface with emory cloth or sandpaper. Reassemble, then properly adjust the parking brake through the rotor opening. Check for any drag that could indicate binding. This is likely where you have an issue.

*Edit* I just noticed that the rotors are new. Also if you used an OEM pad, did you replace the vibration isolation kit for the pads or just use an aftermarket with a built in anti-squeal?

I was trying to avoid disassembling everything again. Yes, my rotors are new as the pads, I bought all Bosch, the pads came with the shim incorporated.
It is probably something on the parking brake, one of the shoes seemed very loose after reinstalling the spring and washers. Parking brake never worked since I got the truck, is completely seized.

Your clips that hold the pads in are hitting the rotor. I just had the same exact thing happen. Take the caliper off and look inside there. Squeak gone for me

Did you ever sort this out? What you’ve described here is exactly what I‘m experiencing today. (2005 series 100) Full brake job this morning and now I have this shhhhh-shhhh noise as well. I checked my brake pad clips and they don’t appear to be hitting the rotor. Interested to hear how you solved it. Thanks
 
I just did new calipers, pads, and rotors in the back also and had 2 issues on first go around. I had a hell of a time figuring out the orientation on the new metal pad retainers. This ended up being the main problem as I dissembled and reversed the orientation of the clips. This was more of a squeel though. The other problem was the new calipers were slightly rubbing the wheel balancing weights on the inside of the wheel. This was more of a repeating woosh woosh noise.

I too had a time with the new clips. That’s the first thing I attempted for the fix after reassembling everything. I kept the old calipers because I didn’t see a reason to change them, so it wouldn’t be a balance weight rubbing. I’m wondering if I did something to the Parking brake. I didn’t pay any attention to it other than leaving it off while removing my rotors. I’m thinking I could’ve done something as I was forcing the old rotors off. Any experience there?

If all components are correctly seated and noise of dragging parking brake shoes is suspected, suggest check handbrake adjustment individually at each rear wheel and also check that the bell cranks are working properly on both sides. Adjusting the parking brake equaliser (behind the rear differential) does not always result in equal adjustment on both sides of the vehicle, especially if the equaliser is affected by rust or if one or both bell cranks are affected by rust. Hopefully the parking brake drums inside the new rear rotors are not out-of-round. No big deal if they are but more clearance would be required.
 
For the noise went away by itself after a couple of days, never knew what it was.
