What year is your truck?
Does the original alternator have an internal or external fan?

92 with 3FE... Not sure what you mean by external vs internal fan?

Duh... External - just behind the belt that turns the alternator.

On the 80 amp alternator for the 3FE, there is an external fan that is behind the pulley. On the 90 amp alternator the fan is internal to the case. Each one uses different mounts and both came on the 92 FJ80, depending on the month of manufacture.

That's the 80 amp alternator. Discontinued years ago. You can use the 90 amp unit, but you'll need to source the mounting hardware.

27060-61090-84 APPEARS to still be available - it's 80 amp. Some sites show it as being good for 1988-1992... and some don't.

The 80 amp unit with the external fan was used on the FJ62 and FJ80 up to early 1992. The 90 amp unit (internal fan) was late 1992.

Any clue about part number for the "connector" that plugs into the alternator?

The EWD lists 2 possibilities.
90980−10341
90980−11491

Just went through this with my 1991. Ordered several reman 80 amp alternators with the external fan, and every one came in as the 90 amp. Ended up getting mine rebuilt at a local shop.

This is a missing link for me. I have been able to find the correct alternator but the plug doesn’t match a 90 fj62. The circled plug is what I’m find while the top two are correct. Any idea about an adapter for this? I’ve seen them but can’t figure out how to order or source one.

Are these all OEM Denso units?
I guess not. I haven't found an OEM Denso FJ62 Alternator. Not for lack of looking, but maybe I'm not going about this the right way. Started with Cruiser Corps. That unit is the one on the top of the photo. Has the correct plug but wrong mounting wings and is a 1 belt grooved pulley. Then Parts Geek which has several versions that are a perfect fit, but have the wrong plug. Then I bought one off ebay from a guy who seems to have quite a few. Unfortunately, the plug adapter was crushed in transit. He sent a replacement alternator which did not include the adapter. So... i'm stumped.

Toyota (or at least my local dealership) says its discontinued. I sent a note to ACC Garage yesterday. They can probably help me. Just thought I should have been able to handle this one myself. Below is what I'm looking for, but of course if I had the correct OEM alternator, I wouldn't need this adaptor.

The 80 amp OEM alternator for the 3FE was discontinued about 10 years ago. AFAIK, the 80 amp unit with external fan (27060-61091) should be the same for the FJ62 and FJ80 variants.
Parts catalog shows (27060-61090) for the FJ62, but it might have been superseded by the 61091.
In either case, they are long gone.
I don't see any remanufactured units available (part number-84) and I can't find them on the Toyota heritage parts list either.
I would check with VintageTeqParts.com Home Page – VintageTEqParts.com - https://vintageteqparts.com/
He often has hard to find items along with plugs and adapters.
