help, nav system buttons flash...weird

Guys -

Here's what appears to be a new one (at least, I can't find anything via search). We have a 2004 (yes, the year of the glitchy nav units). Occassionally, and I think only when the headlights are on, all of the illuminated buttons on the nav unit will all flash rapidly in unison. Not touchscreeen buttons, but the physical buttons on the unit. Anyone ever see this?

did the truck come with the psychedelic dealer-installed option? (telltale signs: lava lamp in the cargo bay and rotating mirror ball on the ceiling)

or could be subliminal messages from the dealer
