Sell it and move on. Why waste anymore time with it. Life is too short

Many people have asked if we would be willing to sell to them our ‘08 with over 250k miles on it even though several parts need to be replaced.

Maybe you can sell yours to one of them and then that would be one less person asking me 😃.

I'm having trouble understanding exactly what sucks about the LX in this case.

The nut connecting the seat to the steering wheel.

Just because your experience has not been the same, don’t discount the experience of others. I have been dealing with this issue for almost a year. I’ve taken the recommendations of the forum experts on here and started with control arm bushings and tie rods. The AHC fluid has been flushed 20k miles ago. Also forum members have pointed to alignment which has been done multiple times. 2 Lexus dealers claims it drives normal, however my Indy agrees it is not and if you drove it you would see that it does not either and something is malfunctioning. I know the difference between the truck like drive of a full 4 wheel drive body on frame vehicle and that of one that feels unstable and unsafe over bumps and highway joints bordering on losing control of the vehicle.

Now I’m being pointed to replacing the AHC accumulators by forum members.

All I’m saying is that when the suspension goes south and there are no visible worn parts (as in my case checked by Lexus dealers and a few top Indy shops), it can be a guessing game and very expensive fixing the LX suspension.

How many people have suggested that you go drive another LX and compare the ride?

I mean it's like you just want to spend money on parts without doing something incredibly simple that would cost exactly $0.00.

I have a 2013 LX that feels really funky too. It seems to shimmy over bumps on side streets. Mine only has 60 miles and is nearly perfect in everyway. I just never got used to how it feels. It is a wonderful car but I just don't think I would want one to drive everyday. My wife loves it and says I am crazy. I have 80s, and 100s to compare it to so I am not crazy.

I think it is a function of the heavy engine, large size, and complex suspension design. It all works great but I do feel a stange float to it that make me think it would not go well in a quick evasive maneuver at speed. Thankfully, I have never had to test it and have instructed my wife to win at all costs in that scenario.

+1 to team LX. Love it!

Random suggestion: reach out to Netflix and make a show out of it. 😜

AHC does not do as well as KDSS in handling. MotorTrend Firgure 8 test which measures how a suspension performs in transitions from side to side…LX is significantly slower than LC.

You should do well with your trade-in $$$ of your current Lexus.

Buy the biggest GLS that checks all your boxes.

Get in writing. you'll always receive an upper tier loaner MB SUV service loaner vehicle.

Get to know your MB service writer and support staff well. (Gift cards to their restaurants works wonders in $50.00+ increments.)

Your Lexus dealer might give you 50% of what you paid for the MB GLS in three 3 years when you are purchasing your new LX 600.

Your MB ownership will probably be flawless, looking forward to hearing all about it, let us know in three years... 2024....

The MB GLS is a beautifully executed vehicle.

The closest thing to a private jet without wings on the road today ... enjoy it. life is short...

Peace

why do I need to waste my time driving another LX to see "if it’s normal" when I know it is not driving as it it should, did not drive like this when I bought it and has gradually gotten worse?

Who asked about LX vs LC in this thread? This is off topic.

My wife has a CPO 14 ML350 over 5 years daily driven with over 100k miles and no issues. MB dealer experience has been impressive.

And for all who are offended thinking I am suggesting that Mercedes is "better" than Lexus, I am not trying to start that debate. They are different vehicles for totally different purposes. Reliability AND driving experience? Of course there’s a compromise. I was overreacting as I realize the true cost of moving into another vehicle like a GLS (a good 40k more) than keeping my current LX and fixing it to ride stable. I don’t mind spending another $1500 - $2000 more after I’ve spent $4000 to get it to ride composed and the front end stable. I just want to spend my money knowing it will correct my issue. 4 new accumulators and fluid change coming up. Hopefully I notice a significant improvement.

Shoot, if it bothers you that the steering wheel twitches over every imperfection on the road, then definitely steer clear of the G-class Mercedes and it's solid front axle (before the 2019 redesign). It will drive you nuts, even with a beefy aftermarket steering damper. The GLS, on the other hand will probably be more to your liking. Granted, reliability will take a nose dive over any Toyota product, but you can't have it all.
thinking about a 2011 g550 to replace my 2013 lx. thoughts overall on reliability? had an 05 500 years ago. Don't mind the ride, it rolls less than my lx but I didn't have the 05 long enough to know about reliability. 2011 550 would have about 70k miles.
