Long time lurker, first time poster. I recently substantially (mechanically) overhauled my 06 LX470. She’s been stock since her first mile and only has 180k on her. All major service has been done and she’s driving like new. I think the only non-oem parts on her are some wheel caps (they keep falling off), replacements decals (also tore off), and upgraded HID lights.

I’ve got some options here to consider for possible upgrades, and I’m seeking input on what you would do first:

1. My AHC is still working fine, though the fluids are pretty milky. I’m inclined to keep it until there are noticeable issues, though I’m open to opinions. In short, I could go ahead and do a suspension swap or just keep it for the foreseeable future.

2. I can add a front bumper (Ironman or Dissent) and rear bumper.

3. I can add a Grom VLINE to upgrade my infotainment (CarPlay) and replace my stock backup camera.

4. The interior is in great shape with the exception of the seats. Car seats wore down the leather seats in the back and my driver seat, while not cracked, shows its age. So I could also replace the upholstery.

For context, the majority of my driving is in the city. Any rough driving is pretty much contained to dirt roads / pastures at the ranch. Mostly it’s a daily driver used for work and kids. My primary objective is to keep it well maintained so my daughter can drive it when she turns sixteen in about 8 years, and then pass it to my son. The only reason I’m considering the bumpers are for the ranch… and (if I’m honest) because they look cool.

Feel free to ask any other questions and I’ll try to post some pics soon. Let the strong opinions commence!

Congrats on owning a Texas '06 and tackling essential overhaul items as the first projects. As for optional upgrades/changes, a working AHC should be maintained for your use case. Front and rear bumpers are typically chosen for beefing up the vehicle for rocky approach/departure angles, so you won't have much functional use for those on ranch roads. Infotainment upgrades are relatively inexpensive compared to the rest of the options you've outlined, and the benefits are realized every time you get in the vehicle. If it were me in your shoes, I'd put on a set of seat covers for now, do Grom VLINE upgrade, baseline & maintain the AHC, then save for upholstery. If you happen to have a fender bender in a parking lot or a deer strike that damages the stock front bumper, you can upgrade to an aftermarket bumper then. Enjoy the vehicle and maintain your focus on preventative maintenance. Function over form. Happy trails.
