hello mud !!
Recently my lj78 (5 door SX) was flipped she was doing it the tortoise style which damaged most of the cabin so now i am thinking of getting a kzj 78 and i will covert the cabin(body) of the kzj to lj frame(body, cabin change)as both the model have the same body mounts so it wont be a problem to body change.
Few things thats circles around my mind.
Now as the current is sx(limited edition) model with no sunroof,no rear diff locker, winch etc.
Thinking of getting the kzj78 with maximum accessories like sunroof, winch, rear locker etc.
which one should i go forSX(exempted) EX,SX5,EX5
i know that the EX and EX5 have most of the options.
Whats the difference between sx,ex,sx5,ex5 .............educate me.

If you get a kzj78, why not just leave it as is and drive it? Keep your old LJ for parts, as most are the same besides the engine. As far as I know, EX5 is the top of the line, but things like winch and diff lock are options still.

because the kzj i m going to get is a non custom paid so i can drive it to a certain area and the kzj is is 3 times cheaper than the registered one(custom duty paid).
My LJ is duty paid so i can drive it to any corner of the country.btw after conversion i will keep the LJ for parts....well i m still confused about the diff locker and winch?cant find any specific model,type....in some cases i have seen the Diff locker in SX version.
as she needs a new cabin so why not go for an upgrade;)
the KZ had 4.11 diffs (or maybe they are 4.3?) where as the LJ has 4.88.
thanks for the info crushers you are the man

whats the difference?
its slow speed?
i know that its the final drive ratio but still i dont know how different ratios works/stand for?speed, torque, power etc:)

the lower the gearing the lower the top end.
better off the line grunt, better crawl ratio, poorer fuel mileage on highway.

with my (PZ converted) LJ78, i ran 35" boots and found that without O/D my max comfortable speed was 90 k/h, with O/D then 110 was comfortable.

Got it:popcorn:
btw are you running the pz on the same diff,Transmission(LJ)what mileage are u getting from it...highway,offroad,city?
Does LJ,and KZj run the same transmission?

i was running the R141 and then swapped for the R151 before i sold it.
with 35s at 90 k/h i was returning 24 mpg constant.
they run the same tranny but different input shaft.
in the bush i never bothered to calculate but it was very decent.
we don't have cities up here.

hmmm...well mine 2LTE is terrible city drive 4 to 5 km/L on highway 7km/L
so with conversion i have to change the diff, transmission as well?
