Hello,

I have a 2005 sequoia and I would like to run 315/70/17s. Trying to figure out what I need to do with my current setup I have and if it’s even reasonable to do. I currently have a 2.5 OME lift on it and adjustable spc. I am running 285/70/17s on trd pro wheels. I would like to run 315/70/17s. I’ve seen some peoples setups who are running this size but not much of a build thread on it. It’s a family vehicle we use. Just trying to see if it’s even something I can do with the setup I have. I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars.
One shop said I would need to redo my firewall and put a bigger lift on. But others are telling me a body lift, body mount chop amd some trimming. Just trying to see if anyone has experience with this or has done it. If you have photos if you’ve done it that would be great! Any advice and feedback is much appreciated! Thank you!!

I can’t say much for the RR IRS (are the G1’s IRS or solid axle?), but my G2 Tundra is a 6” lift & was what it took to clear the frame at the RR of the FR wheelwells at full lock w/ 35’s (Toyo 35’s - pretty true sized)

I upgraded to Icon coilovers up front (the large lift application ones) & their UCA’s with delta-joints so I could adjust a little more.

Even that is just barely enough lift for the now-37’s (BFG MT3’s - quite small vs sidewall claims)

It’s a generous 36” - but no 37” tire & even it is so close you hear a faint ‘thudding’ of the inner corner of the tread when at full lock - it’s very faint & not an issue, but 35’s would take some work if you think the OME lift is what you want to stay with.

Body lifting wouldn’t help - it’s the frame shape that is where the rubbing would be, so you’re going to need the suspension & maybe the Icon arms to help adjust the UCA & get the spindle moved forward a bit.

Turn the wheel full lock & see your current inner clearance, if you haven’t yet.

IDK why, but G2 Tundras really biased the suspension rearward in the FR wheelwells - clearance for days in front of the tire.

I wouldn't mess with it. From what I have seen it hasn't been worth it for the minimal gain. OLD MAN TAN put 35's and has been having problems with the firewall

You'll at least need spacers and create a lot more clearance around the firewall. Outside of the cost of the tires themselves it wouldn't be all that expensive if you can do the mods yourself. Theoretically 2.5" of lift is enough and since you already have aftermarket UCA's you're on the right track. It will be a lot slower though, depending on you and the way you use it you may want to have it re-geared to 4.88's.

I run FN Whee's Five Star in 17x8.5 Matte Bronze (-6 offset) with BFG K02 285/70/17 Load C and only had minor rubbing on a mud flap at full lockout.

My lift is mild and with the tires was about a 3.5" lift in total:
  • Front Suspension: OME2885 x 1 Pair Coil Springs & OME90004 x 2 Front Shock Absorbers
  • Rear Suspension: OME2862 x 1 Pair Rear Coil Springs & OME60020L x 2 Rear Shock Absorbers

Can't help with the 315/70/17 question but I was wondering if you think your 285/70/17s would fit under a 2" OME lift. The KO2 285/70/17 are the ones that I have my eye on and will be installing a 2" OME lift soon.
