Help..key turns freely in ignition but nothing

It is almost like the cylinder is broke so I am strnded....anything I can do to get it started? It is a 98 with 140,000 if that helps

Sounds like broken cylinder. That happened to me couple months ago, was a $600 or so fix. It is not an easy fix, needs to be towed to repair guy, unfortunately. Do a search on this, lots of good informtion from others.

Yeah there is a small piece in the ignition tumbler that can break. When that happens I think you are completely stranded and must have it towed to fix. Sorry to hear that.

If there seems like the key works normal, but just does nothing, make sure the truck is in Park. I had a friend that did not put their car in park fully, so it would not start - even though it looked like it was in park. The key even came out as if it was. Something to check.
