Hi guys i hooked into the cruiser over the past few days, new glow plugs, new air filter, dragged 5L of new diesel from the tank through the lines to the fuel filter (haven't changed fuel filter yet) replaced the fuel primer, and put in a new starter solenoid.

bad news is that still have to bridge the connections on the solenoid to kick it over, does anyone know what else i need to look at (new starter relay 3 months ago)

and after runnings for a few min the idle became rough and eventually the engine stopped, the fuel primer was then very soft, so im assuming i have a air leak, where would the best/ first place i should look ? i am assuming that i should start with the lines that i took off originally.

I was thinking maybe someone was broke as hell and just poured used oil into the tank.....it wouldn't be the first time this has been done lol.:hillbilly:

By the description of the black diesel, it's also say it's probably got algae in it. This can cause your fuel filter to block up very quickly.

Try filling a 5litre plastic bottle with clean diesel, and run a hose from it, directly to the fuel pump. Bypass the filter etc

It's normal for an older diesel to run rough on start up until they get some heat into them.
If it runs OK from a bottle of fuel are is warm, check all the rubber hoses in the fuel system. A split, or cracked hose cab suck in air without leaking diesel. If air gets sucked in, it may be enough to stall out the engine.
Soft primer pump suggests air is getting in somewhere. Either at the primer pump, fuel hose or fuel filter o-ring not sealing properly.

If your battery is good, and starter relay and starter solenoid is good (sounds like it is) it may just be reluctant to start due to a worn out ignition switch

You sound like you're on the right track. Also sounds like it will just be something simple stopping it running.
