Looking at a complete parts rig with blown motor locally for sale.

Truck has been sitting in front of a local repair shop for months.

Finally got in touch with owner who recently had a stroke. He told me his long term memory is gone, as well as use of his right side. FWIW, I believe him.

He can't recall year or mileage, but the motor is blown anyway which is how it made its way to the local repair shop. It appears to be a 79+ rig like mine.

Body is rough, but doors and hardtop look good as well as several other goodies...

Here is info from VIN tag:

FJ40LV-KCJA

Frame # FJ40-304613

Color Trim 416 CP11

Trans Axle H42 K052

I offered him $1000 and he is thinking about it.

That is if he remembers I called....

A Vehicle Identification Number, commonly abbreviated to VIN, is a unique serial number used by the automotive industry to identify individual motor vehicles. Prior to 1981, there was not an accepted standard for these numbers, so different manufacturers used different formats.

I was waiting to see who replied first with a :flipoff2:. Actually figured it would be Grant5127.

My VIN on my '81 is 17 digits long, yet this truck and most others I've seen have a much shorter VIN #.

Thanks to Google/Wikipedia, now I know why.

Maybe something to add to FAQS?

So, I will beat everyone to it...:flipoff2:
