I have searched to the far ends of the internet but you guys are wiser, I need a toggle switch cover that when closed it doesn't flip the switch off. Ideally I just want the cover to serve as way to protect the switch from being accidentally turned off or on, unless I open the cover and flip the switch on or off.

Thanks is advance for the help

why do you need that? what is the switch for?

Haha that's funny, I have certainly found the covers/safety covers but the all turn off the switch when closed.

Maybe using a mini 1/2" toggle switch and normal cover. I'll have to call to see if that would even work.

Hell I take a rocker switch that has cover.

Would a key switch work?

If not try calling Carling Tech support.
Just tell them you are working in product development and need help with a switch selection. Make sure you tell them it has to be and off the shelf part. Once you have a part number you can usually order through DigiKey.

if it is something you dont want to turn off accidentially like an electric fan or something then get you one of those saftey switches and wire it up so when the cover is down it is in the off position, and if something you dont want on accidentially then wire it just the opposite. :meh:

I thought about that, but there's still the potential that it could be triggered on by the switch cover getting closed accidently:doh: I'll keep searching

Go to a municipal airport or some place with privately owned aircraft and talk to the mechanics. They can point you in the right directions. Or google a local aircraft parts store. Or craigslist or something else parting out a plane. If all else fails buy a plane so you can steal the guarded switch out of it:flipoff2:.

If he goes that route he'll have to make sure he finds a black switch guard. Red ones (most, anyway) are designed to hold the switch in a certain position when closed. Black ones simply cover it without altering the switch's position.

What kind of switch are you going to be using S&S1stcruzer? maybe size of switch will be your determining factor? Though not to push but intended use/ how often will the switch be cycled/ location in the cruiser could help you pick the right guard. Any luck finding anything? Guarded switches can look cool.

Black covers; hadn't heard of that, but possibly another lead. I've checked all the above mentioned sites and no luck. It's not gonna be cycled very often either. Set and forget until needed, but don't want it accidently trigger it.
I was looking at just a normal on/off toggle switch.
It's hard to tell if a mini toggle and normal (red) size toggle cover work as I need.
