im about to turn 16 and my dad is giving me his 2001 land cruiser for my first car. it almost has 100,000 miles on it. my original thoughts were to sell it and buy a supra or sumn but now i dont want to. i need advise on what to do, i wana lift it, get some more power, and install a stereo. what are some good lifts and power adders, i can take care of the stereo. and i need advice on new tires and rims

THIS will help you tons.

Welcome must be nice to get a 100LC for a first car! Do a search and start by reading the FAQ at the top of the board. Stereo is double din anything will fit. Go to www.sleeoffroad.com for a lift. You will have to spend $10,000 to get any more power. Sucks but that is the way it is. Check ebay for 18" factory rims and then you can run BFG AT's with the lift. Other rim options are slim to none. Make sure your dad does the 90k mile service before you get it because it is $$$. Hope this helps.

Have you gone to a real performance driving school? If not I would hit your dad up for the tuition for one.

The best thing to do for your new cruiser is to increase your driving skill. A new 16 year old driver is a car's biggest threat.

For mods I say snorkle it. It's bling in an "anti-bling" sort of way and is at least theoretically a way to boost power.

Do you plan to wheel it offroad or just drive girls around town ?

welcome your about to get sucked in to the obcession:D

I can hear the whoooosh from here...or wait maybe that's the sound of $$$$$ being sucked out of his wallet...or somebody's wallet :D

my dad got the 90k service and i have "sweet driving skills". aka i have friends with offroading cars i have driven and i have friends with fast cars i have driven and i was learning how to drift. i was about to sell this car for a supra but not anymore. are there any chip upgrades for the lc? what tires are good? i was planning on doing an offroading set with the stock rims and bigger tires and then maybe a other set with like say...20-22's on it. but that might get $$$. my dad had the engine rebuilt, new plugs alternator pistons brakes...ect. i want to know chips, tires, bull bars/cow pushers, and some other stuff you people find necesary. thanks

Why the heck did he have the engine rebuilt? Where are you located? I just want to know where a 5000lbs vehicle will be driving well over the speed limit.

I liked the line about "sweet driving skills". That was...classic. I thought I had sweet driving skills too when I was that age. I ended up rolling my car at 110 and almost dying.

As for drifting, its the most bogus automotive sport ever. The art of drifting is sweet, and takes real driving skill to do correctly, but drifting as a competition is almost as lame as American Idol. Gotta love scoring via Judges Panel.

At this point I think a Smartbar would be perfect for your truck. Bullbar protection but lightweight so you won't be held back speedwise. ;)

Would have to be shipped from OZ but thats true for most of the high performance parts for the 100.

Rear snorkels.

Drifting - The only guys that know how to really drift are World Rally Drivers. The rest of drifting is just noise.

Rear snorkel - Saweet.

I bet your insurance is gonna cost $$$$! The LC is a lot of vehicle for a young driver. Last year there was a local teenager who borrowed a parent's LC, ran a stop-sign, t-boned a camry, killing the driver. Now that you've got a LC, you'd better save money to fuel it up...$70 for a tank of gas adds up.
