Figured I'd throw this out there since it is what Darin has proposed a few times for ONSC.

JP (ClemsonCruiser) generously donated his UC HAMOM to me for May. We're going to be wrenching in Charlotte, NC next Saturday at mi casa.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=93836

If anyone is in the area and wants to stop by, help out, talk cruisers, drink cold , etc., all are welcome. If you're not in the area but want to make plans to come, that's great too.

If you're interested, PM me for directions, info, etc.

what is a UC HAMOM ??

Anyways Andy I would like to come...I will be driving from Raleigh. What time is people expected to be arriving??? also let me know how to get directions. If anyone wants to ride with my I will be taking my 4Runner so I have space.

Bytheway andy....do you think I can bring one of the soft tops I bought to fit it on your cruiser as I had already talked to you before...I do not have my bows ready to put them on mine, but I am dying to see how these soft tops fit on a cruiser....If it is ok with you!! please let me know.

Hey Juan - sorry for the delay, was wheeling today at Uwharrie.

Good to see you can join us! I wish you were driving that sweet resto'd 40 in your avatar!!

Either way, you'll get to meet some of the guys from the SC club (Upstate Cruisers). Don't have an exact time to start - I'm pretty flexible with schedules, especially on the weekends. We'll most likely be working on stuff for most of the day and those guys have a drive about like yours time-wise. The front axle job on the 40 is going to eat up 4-5 hours anyway, then I have some other things to do. Plus with grilling and having some cold , it looks to be an all day event.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. UC HAMOM = Upstate Cruisers Help a Member of the Month.

You are welcome to bring anything you'd like that will help you. I'll have the OEM 7 window soft top off by next weekend so you can take all the measurements you need from both the top and the 40 - bows, family cage, etc. Whatever you need.

Awesome you're planning on stopping by!!

Hubby has to work Sat. 8-5 so I am free. I know he and I both love seeing pics of your cruiser, so to pass up a chance to work on it would be a crime. Please send directions to me at Stacygrnc@aol.com.

Also, I'll be heading out from Greensboro maybe WorldCruiser and I could car pool.

Let me know.. :)

Depending on the weather i might show up also. It will be on the bike though.

Glad some folks can make it! Wish that 45 was ready for the maiden voyage, Darin. Though, we wouldn't get much done on my 40 drooling all over that thing.

Darin - Send me your e-mail address and I'll send a group e-mail with my house address and directions.

OK, info and directions sent.

Andy,

Got them, sent you back a reply also.

Hopefully see you all there.

Darin

Cool, hope you can make it dude!!

Maybe this is what it will take to get the ball rolling for one of our own here in NC.

That's what I was thinking and why I mentioned it in the original post... ;)

There are a bunch of you guys closer together than Charlotte. Seems like around the triangle you could do the same thing.

I was hoping so myself. You know some of us have a bit of knowledge on here that we are willing to share to fellow cruiser heads and no one really wants it. I do not understand, i have built everything on this 45 of mine minus the machine work, and i was even at the shop watching as they did that.

And i know someone else out there is better at some things that i am , esp wiring. I know i could use help on that.

This even blows my wifes mind that no one really wants to do this.

I mean look at all the money i have saved just on the 45 doing most of it myself.

I got the email, but haven't had time to look it over. Mother-in-law is in town, We get along great so I love spending time with her. I think she will be leaving either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Erymer (hubby) and I are new to the Cruiser world and anything we can learn from someone else is money in the bank in our eyes. Our first cruiser isn't perfect, but it is the perfect project for beginners. We haven't found any extra parts YET.. *knock on wood* But then again we haven't put the Hard top together yet.. These work days are perfect for us.. Too bad hubby has to work.

How did the event go? Get everything accomplished?

Darin,
I'm interested in putting this together since I need to get that clutch in my rig. I'm looking into getting a weekend that I know I will be able to do it. We need to get a thread going on this. I would love to do it every weekend but it's hard for me to get time away from two little ones. Hell, I can hardly get away to meet some of the guys for a beer some weekends.

Just click on the link in the first post to get the updates.

It went well, lucky to have some many knowledgeable, helpful and giving cruiser folks around!!
