I need to flush my heater core with no power and no motor in the wagon. My question: I know there is the mechanical cable actuated valve that mounts on the firewall. Are there any other valves (electric?) in the short loop that makes up the two hoses in the firewall and the heater core? I haven’t been able to find anything that says there is but wanted to check. Also, does 1/2-3/4 of a quart seem about the appropriate volume of that loop?

The heater control valve is controlled by the HVAC controls. A cable turns a ball valve inside the HCV. Remove that cable (its just an eyelet), and you can manipulate the valve as needed.

Perfect. So just the one ball valve that is cable actuated and on the 5/8 heater hose on the engine bay side of the firewall.
