Apologies if this has been covered before. My heater blower just the other day stop working. When I switch the fan control arm from off to 1 I do hear what sounds like a relay engaging/dis-engaging... Is there any low hanging fruit I can look for first/ where do I start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think that there are any relays in the circuit to turn on the blower motor. What you may be hearing is the actual switch moving into it's position.
Does your blower not work in all speeds, or is it not working in certain speeds?
Check the fuse to make sure that it's not blown.
If the fuse is good and the blower isn't working in all the speeds remove the blower motor and apply 12 volts to it to see if it turns.
If the blower motor works in certain speeds then most likely its the resistors that control the blower fan speed that are bad.

Does not work in any position. If I remember correctly there is a CB instead of a fuse but will def check that first. I was afraid I would have to remove the blower motor. UGH!

So, all it was was the wiring harness connection at the blower motor. Thanks Cam for your efforts Sir. I owe you a couple of beers.

removing heater blower

how do you go about removing the heater blower. It stopped working and I kicked it like the forum mentioned and that worked for a few weeks but alas it is not working again.

Black Op - Any chance you could send a pic? I have the same problem as leafscorpion.

Thanks!

I agree, pics would be great. I had the same problem last winter and it happened again today. Mine works most of the time, but will randomly stop working for some random period of time. I replaced the CB last year and thought that it was fixed, but after today, I guess not!

take a mag lite and hit the blower a time or two it worked on mine. the brushes are more than likeley hung up and not making contact with the armiture. Do not try to Babe Ruth it, just tap it with the key on and the blower switch on high.

The motor along with the fan itself will come right out of the bottom of the "box" located in the passenger footwell. It is stupid simple to remove, three fasteners if I recall, and the wire connector.

X2, a very easy drop. Don't forget to reach up and clean out all the pine needles and debris that has collected in the inlet screen over the last 20 years....

You forget to mention rodents.
LOL, sorry, I always call the really dehydrated ones debris... !
It's amazing what you can pull out of there when you take the wiper motor out too.

3 screws and its down. Open up, blow out the dust, solder in two brushes from radio shack and your fine. MIke

Can you replace the plug. I just moved and don't have any of my tools with me. If you can do you know how much it is and what the part is called?

Sorry, I have not come back to this thread lately. I will not get back to my 60 until Friday. If you still want a pic I'd be glad to take one for you.
