heated windscreen washer jets?

The issue is the temp. A pot of hot water could be anything between 100º and 212º. With the higher end for sure breaking the glass. From what I have been reading 150º seems to be the optimal temp.

@ 150 degrees F wouldn't you crack an extremely cold soaked windshield?

On the hot shot web site it says it won't crack your w/s, I thought the same thing though.

I think if the windshield had even a small crack or chip that it would crack when warm water is applied.

I'm no thermal engineer though. :meh:

I wrapped the wwf line around the upper firewall heater hose. That way, with the heat on in the winter the wwf is heated before it hits the windshield. The first few squirts are cold, but once the truck is warm the wwf does a good job de-icing the windshield.

I really like this idea, any more info/pics? Seems like it could be done for the cost a few feet of hose:cheers:

i'd concur. i cracked mine washing it after it sat in the hot sun and there wasn't anywhere near the temp difference that there would be between say 15 degrees and 150

Can this tape get the water hot or just warm? I belive that Hot Shot gets water to about 150F deg. which would clear ice off a w/s pretty quick.
I don't think it gets that hot...just warm enough to keep it from freezing up. I haven't done this, but it looks interesting to me since I've also experienced the nozzle freeze thing. It's not a matter of keeping the fluid in the tank from freezing--that doesn't happen. But the alcohol in the fluid near the nozzle will evaporate leaving the water content behind which freezes. If the heat tape keeps the nozzles warm enough, they shouldn't freeze.

This never even crossed my mind as a possible problem. We will hit 80* today. :)
