My '97 80 does not have the Auto Knob in the Heater-A/C controls. It appears that some do and some don't, per the PartSouq parts diagram. Does anyone have any insight on why the Auto feature was not included in some trucks and whether it can be added on a DIY basis? Understand this may be a complicated difference to change, but wanted to check with the collective wisdom here. Thank you.

Different Trim levels.

It is more than just a button missing.

The A/C Automatic Amplifier is what that button activates and it has a number of inputs and sensors.

Thank you. Not surprised its something more complicated. But, thought it could be a simple difference in the cabin but otherwise the same components behind the dash. Much like the wiring for the heated seats.

Its such an odd thing to make different AC components for.

Go get a collectors edition or a 40th anniversary edition and you will have it

Or an LX450 from what I understand.

Perhaps for my next 80. BTW, so far enjoying the new engine Precision Land Cruisers sourced from you for my 80. Its a thing of beauty.

Yes, LX450 has auto climate.

Off topic a little...that's the same Kenwood head unit I installed on my LX 450. Very, very adequate with the stock audio set-up, at least when the blown speakers were replaced, and at a very affordable price (around $150 at Best Buy.)

I like it and my speakers are blown out as well...it is a "later" problem. 😉

I just needed a Bluetooth receiver for Android Auto and IMHO, it isn't in a great location to put a more modern infotainment system. I do have a high frequency annoying whine coming through the stock amp, which I have to track down. Did you keep the stock amp?

Here is my $110 Android Auto, near eye level, and not blocking the windshield. Has front and rear recording cameras.

I bypassed the stock amp, only good for blowing the stock speakers.
I do Apple and the built in functionality of the Kenwood covered my bases there. I piocked up an Armiorall deasg/reverse cam system that clips on the rearview mirror, $65 at Menards.
