This weekend was the first time I have really used my high beams. I was out in the middle of nowhere. What I noticed was they were so bright I had to turn them off when they hit road signs because the glare was so brilliant. If stock high beams are that bright are the LED ones that much brighter?
I agree low beams arent enough, I found myself using the fog lights for the extra light

Some of the new retro-reflective sign material is very efficient and does look really bright in the absence of street lights. But the high beams really aren't all that bright compared to other supplemental offerings.

Try going to HID bi-xenon headlights, you'll realize what really bright is. The stock headlights in general are really not comparable to modern headlights, they simply don't produce the same caliber of light. The only reason I could see anybody keeping the stock headlights is if they prefer the halogen look or just don't really care.

Just checking out this thread as I need to upgrade. Anyone seen a good how-to-install (HID lamp retrofit kits) video out there? ...For our UZJ100's that is...

@rockmon The HID harnesses should be pretty close to "plug-and-play". I couldn't even read the instructions that came with my Kensun HIDs because the font was too small so I just plugged it in the most logical way. Plug the original headlight harness into the ballast and the new harness coming from the ballast to the HID bulb supplied. Insert bulb back into the headlight housing and repeat on the other side. Just make sure all connects are snug because loose connections can lead to one light failing or flickering as you go down the road. I used a little silicone spray on them to make the connections fit better.
