Just found this forum after owning my 91 fj80 for a couple of years, and I'm gobsmacked at the amount of info you guys have out there and you willingness to assist those of us not as mechanically minded as others. Many thanks.
I have a 91 fj80 vx ltd with the 3fe running on lpg, 301000kms on the clock, and i'm looking at adding a set of extractors/headers and a bigger bore exhaust to try and get a wee bit more power from the beast.
Has anyone out there done this, and have they noticed the increase in power that is claimed? Is it worth the hassle & cost?
I live in New Zealand, in the South Island and we have plenty of hills to deal with on the trips we go on, and I'm getting weary of being passed on the hills by 1100cc skodas and minis, or trying to avoid driving into headwinds. I love my crusier to bits but after the last long trip through central Otago I was a gnats pizzle away from selling it and buying a diesel 94 surf. Fortunately sanity prevailed and I have priced the exhaust mods at $1100 nzd.
Is it worth it? Do you notice the difference.
I would appreciate any advice. Cheers
