Hello All,
I've come across a couple of headers. 1 is a downey 6 into 1 and the other is a MAF 6 into 1. The were for a fj40 2f, does anyone know why either one wouldn't work on a fj60 2f. Is there clearance issues or? Please help me out.
Thanks

There is also a set from SOR.

They will all work, but when I lived in LA I was told by an employee of SOR that said I would always be chasing an exhaust leak or intake leak if I put ANY headers on my 2f.

There are people on here that have had good luck with them, but I took his advise and left well enough alone. There is just not a large enough gain (horse power or otherwise) to justify it for me.

But that is just me. :)

I had the downey header on my 60 and loved it. I had to grind a bit on it to get it to mate good with the intake. I also used some very thin washers cut in half to even the faces out. Other then that the header is awesome. It is not smog legal for FJ60's, only FJ40's up to 83. There is almost no room left over to hook up the egr with it anyways. I love the way it hooks to the exhaust compared with the stock manifold. I know others have used the downey header on 60's as well.

I run the jt outfitters header and its fine but if I had to do it over I would probably do the MAF ones

A lot of guys have had good luck with taking the header to a machine shop and having the flanges decked to the same thickness as the intake manifold.

MAF 6 into 1

I have owned two of these and installed a third. The fit and finish isn't so great but it did wake up the motor and the price is good. I found it very helpful to use a Toyota F gastket as it has fire rings around the exhaust ports and the individual ports are separated unlike the 2F gasket where there is one large port for cylinders 2 and 3 and another for cylinders 4 and 5. The problem is that the headers have a small area around each port where a welded and ground surface makes contact with the gasket. There is absolutely no way to make a Toyota 2F gasket seal with this setup, but the F gasket works great. I'd stay away from the cheap gaskets that come with the header, the material (some white stuff) gets brittle prematurely and will fail long before the Toyota gasket. Again, the F gasket is the best quality and fit for a header. As a previous poster pointed out, you will likely need to make shims to get it to seal properly as it my be thinner or thicker than the intake manifold in some spots. You will lose your carb heat and cold weather operation may require the use of a fluid heat riser, I found it mandatory here in Utah. Others have said otherwise, but if it gets cold where you live and your carb is properly tuned, you will probably need it.
