Those who have successfully installed an aftermarket head unit:

-Did you encounter interference using the factory ground?
-If you did, where did you relocate the ground?
-Did relocating the ground fix the interference?

-Did you bridge over the factory amplifier?
-Was this at all related to the interference issue?

Bypass the factory amp. I only use the factory amp for the OEM sub and use the head unit's power for the 4 speakers. Sounds much better!

Cool, Ill bridge over the amp for the door speakers... gonna play around with next weekend hopefully

I'm using the factory amp, and tried moving the ground several times. Ended up using a ground loop isolator to get rid of the hiss.

I tried an isolator and it did not work for me. I believe it is a impedance mismatch between the OEM amp and after market head unit.

Unfortunately the isolators didnt work for me. Do you know which circuit you ended up putting the isolator on? Also, at the end of the game, where did you leave your ground?

the factory HU (on my '00) grounds through the amp IIRC. I ran an additional ground to the passenger's side fender through the firewall. I had to try several circuits for the ground loop isolator to find the offender, think it was an aux video input on my Kenwood, but been 4+ years ago. Details in a write up here somewhere...
