Welcome and congrats on the purchase!

You guys get different configurations in Oz so its hard to say what headunits are available to you. In North America, lots of 100s have the navigation unit which makes head units nearly impossible because the A/C controls are on screen.

T'eyes is based in Australia and make some cool nav replacements but they have had issues with the toyota amp causing a hiss. If you have no nav or if you have hard a/c controls underneath the radio, you'll have many more options. Use the search to see if you can find some Aussie trucks with aftermarket head units. @willyroo is in Brisbane and might be able to offer better suggestions.

Let's see some more photos of that beauty!

Great thing about all the Australian LC100s - no integrated nav. Even the top of the range Sahara had a wide double din system that was only sound and navigation.

@Ghillie - first thing we need to know is "what do you have in there now". Looking at your truck, I'm 90% certain it will be a "wide" (200mm v 178mm) double din CD radio with Bluetooth - so your aftermarket options are wide open.

My upgrade path with my 2007 GXL was:
  1. Head Unit - DIY 1: I installed an Atoto A6 Pro, and if you're happy to DIY, it's an excellent option. Heaps of "how tos" here on the 'mud on head unit changes.
  2. Head Unit - DIY 2: The T'eyes CC3 is an excellent option, @Red Beard the Aussie LCs don't have an amp so no hum issues :)
  3. Head Unit - simple installer: You've got an Autobarn on Kessels Road, you can pretty well choose any of the double din head units in there. I would pay a bit more for one with wireless Android Auto and/or wireless Apple Carplay - trust me once you've cable-free you won't want to go back
  4. Head Unit - pro job: Drivesound Moorooka - you'll pay however you'll get good advice and a top quality installation
  5. Adapters - standard double DIN is 178mm wide, so you'll need some "ears" either side of the head unit - Aerpro has what you need for this, speaker spacers, and wiring harnesses.
  6. Front speakers - you have some really - really - cheap 6.5" dual cone speakers in yours, I would add a good 6.5" component set (here's one) which will make a huge difference. To get the tweeter up the top of the door, you will see a blank triangle where the Sahara and LX470 have a tweeter. You'll need this trim part (LHS) and this trim part (RHS) - you'll have to find a way to secure the tweeter - I used double sided tape and hot glue, as I couldn't get the tweeter mounting bracket online. If you have time, put some Dynamat or Pingjing in the doors, even a small 60cm x 60cm panel will make a HUGE difference to sound quality.
  7. Amp and rear fill and maybe sub - a good compact 5 channel amp will fit under the passenger seat, I added some nice 6.5" coaxials for rear fill, and you could add an underseat sub or install a sub box in the back.
Heres's a T'eyes CC3 screenshot from my LX470. (I no longer have the GXL LC100 due to major error on the Tele Track - problem was between the seat and steering wheel :) )

Oh and a final hint - the Oricom 300 UHF fits perfectly where the ashtray is:
