Good Day All,

I thought I would post a separate thread from my harrowing tale of woe, with the details of my head rebuild, including the part numbers I required. A timing failure caused the damage to the 1HDT (1HD-T) in my RHD 1994 (JDM) HDJ81 with 240,000 KM on the odometer.

I dissembled the head and brought it to Pete at Carquest, on Startup Rd, in Ottawa (Canada). He came recommended and did the job for an extremely fair price. After examination of the damage, he asked for the following parts:

  1. 6 exhaust valves (13715-17010: VALVE, EXHAUST)
  2. 6 guide bushings (11122-54020: BUSH, EXHAUST VALVE GUIDE)
  3. 6 lifters (13751-54010: LIFTER, VALVE)
  4. Valve shims to use as a starting point, #44 (13753-54440: SHIM, VALVE ADJUSTING)
  5. Cam shaft (13501-17020: CAMSHAFT)
  6. Cam shaft bearing shells (11801-17010: BEARING SET, CAMSHAFT)
  7. 12 valve springs (90504-49001: SPRING, COMPRESSION( FOR INNER))
  8. Spring retainers (90913-03014: LOCK, VALVE SPRING RETAINER)
He then cleaned the head up, which required a few touch ups but no major machining, installed the new valves and came back asking for specific valve shims required to get it just right (not listing those part numbers).

Meanwhile, I sent my injectors to Kingston Diesel Services, in, well, Kingston (Canada). They found two dribbling nozzles, so I had them order new Denso (?) nozzles and rebuild all six. I ordered new o-rings (96711-24019: RING, O). They also provided the 12 copper gaskets (90430-12221).

To reinstall the head, I needed the following:

  1. 26 head bolts (90910-02096: BOLT(FOR CYLINDER HEAD SET))
  2. 26 washers (90201-11032: WASHER, PLATE(FOR CYLINDER HEAD SET))
  3. Head gasket (11115-17010-05: GASKET, CYLINDER HEAD)
  4. Full engine gasket kit (04111-17020: GASKET KIT, ENGINE OVERHAUL)
I also ordered spare studs, bolts, buts, hoses, clamps/clips, etc. Ended up missing a few and placing a couple more orders before I was done.

I hope I didn't forget anything…

Very nice, I think you'll be set from here on out.

Can you give us a rough idea on price? This stuff is scary.
