I just had to share...:grinpimp:

I finally had a chance to do some trouble shooting on my 1990 Prado SX5 Cruiser today.
Removed the 3 bolts holding the Head Light washer tank to the truck.
Undid the electrical connection.
Hooked up a "12 Volt 30 Amp power supply" to the washer motor connector Nothing.. checked output of power supply OH YEH!! she is hot..
OK .. removed Head Light Washer tank motor/pump assembly from truck.
Diss-assembled pump/motor from tank removed pump from motor.
Turned shaft.....Turned shaft again.
What a sound. Crunchy sound and feel..

Pump motor shot..:crybaby:

For laughs took pump motor apart as I know that some are repairable.. This one was at one time repairable but was well past any hope of doing any repaires..
This motor was a perminent magnet motor. I guess it has been in the truck for 16years as it looks original.. The magnets were totally disintigrated and the armature was rusted beyond help..
The brushes though looked fine..(go figure)

So to find a replacement.:D

Most of the numbers on this motor/pump assembly were gone before I started to work on it..

3 lines of numbers and every one with numbers missing..

Now for a cool one Cheers Everyone!!!

For MORE, PLEASE see post #3

nice job and deserves a beer from my point of view.

i am new here and just want to thank you for the post ........gives me a better idea of what i will be dealing with if i ever have that problem, as i am the proud new owner of an lJ78

No problem Champjack.
Just sharing an experience.
I'm relativly new here myself, only 47 posts so far.
Good to have you aboard.

I guess you have read all there is to read here on your truck.
Something else you should do is a search on the internet for the 2L-TE motor.
You will quikly find all sorts of information about it and how to care for it..
most importantly how to fix it when required.

Now Need Washer Motor Pump

Well the sauga continues..
Went to Toyota here in town put the old washer motor / pump on the counter..:)
Well what have we here the guy behind the desk said..
I said its a headlight washer pump motor out of a Land Cruiser..
He asked what year.. I said a 1990 frame stamped LJ78..

That's kinda how it went for 15 minutes all the while he was accessing the computer then he turnes to me and said --

We don't have any in stock and neither dose the warehouse..
If you order it, it will be back ordered and it could take forever to get one..:frown:

I said---OK thanks very much I'll try a few other places before I order from Toyota.. List is $106.00 +/- Canadian.:censor:

The guy was very nice even gave me the part number he came up with and his name if I needed to order the part..;)

Has ANYONE OUT THERE got any idea where to go for a headlight
washer motor pump assembly?
Even some of the online parts places have the part discontinued..
The part number he came up with 85310-22072.
The first part of the number is the base part #..Do not know what the second part is..

Any help would be appreciated..

OH!! the most important thing is it is for my 1990 LJ78 PRADO SX5 daily driver.
Thanks in advance.

Elusive Headlight Washer Motor/pump

OK so Penticton Toyota brings in lots of JDM's and sells em..
SO I thought I'd try there for the Headlight washer motor/pump.

Auto Reply to me---
The Management of Penticton Toyota thank you for your interest and choosing our dealership. The Parts Department has recieved your email and it will be forwarded to the appropriate person for a prompt reply.

Now from a real person there---
Hi
I would get the part from the same place as your local dealer so it would be best to order from there.
Regards

SO since Toyota Canada dose not have this part in stock in their warehouse (so I'm told post #1) even though it also resides in a 60, 62 & other 70 series Land Cruisers I have to find an out of Canada parts supplier for it..??

How about it, any help out there for such a small part.?
http://perso.orange.fr/adherence_4x4/serie7_elec.htm

If you look at the first diagram at the above link you will see the Part I need with #85310A linked to it..

Thanks for reading. I'm sure there will be more to read as time goes on a little ;) .

i would shoot off a email to Toyota Canada and let them know of your frustration.
Dave Stedman (JAPAN4X4) might be able to help you out...

sorry MOT, yes of course give this guy a try. he posts here and is supporting the comunity with cool stuff.
my apologies.

OK guys!!
Thanks..I have a couple of feelers out to different suppliers who sponser this site..I hope there will be some response from them when I get into work in the morning..(I do all my email stuff from there as we supply the fastest internet around..NO not Rogers cable)
Mot if you can help all the info on the washer motor/pump is in previous post 4
with a link to a diagram page that shows the part I need in post 5.

Wayne,

No apologies necessary! REALLY!!! :)

Richard,

I've tried clicking on the link and the diagram, but my stupid comp would not blow it up so I can actually see it.

Is the part number you have given (85310A) the eitire part number?
I usually use Jdan(long story) for more expensive parts or things that I don't need in a hurry, but since I'm gonna be leaving for the US in about a week (for a month) I would go down to the dealership (I just ordered a few different parts for Mudders yesterday from there actually;) )

Let me know the whole part number and I'll get it for you one way or another.

I think my comp. cannot do the "Java" thingy. Any idea how I can disable whatever that's causing it to not work?

I just tried looking up the part number "85310A", but of course, it was not complete.
Let me know!!!

Yours,

Mot

Mot .
Sorry can not help you with your computer..BUT
if you scroll down to the bottom of this link
http://perso.orange.fr/adherence_4x4/serie7_elec.htm
there is a PDF button if you push it the parts pictures will be much bigger and you can read the numbers, you can also print out the page of interset and take it with you. In this case it would be page 16..

The part number 85310-22070 was given to
me by the Toyota dealer here. The part in the picture (page 16 in pdf) is exactly what I need. You will see it has a part number 85310A and is the motor/pump assembly. It is one piece.
It is for an 1990 LJ78 Land Cruiser Prado SX5 Head Light Washer.

Thanks

Richard,

The part number you have given me did not yield anything on the EPC, so based on the information (thanks, BTW) you have given me I did my own search and came with the following info:

Windshield washer motor and pump assy:

-85310-90B00 (Jan. '90 - May '93) for HZJ73, 77, PZJ7#

-85310-22080 (April '90 - ) for FJ75, HZJ71, 74, 75, 76, 79, LJ7#

I can go and confirm with the dealer today and will get back to you, if you'd like.

I'll attach a pic of the EPC page, PLEASE let me know if I'm WAY off here!

Mot

P.S. I gotta run to take my kid to school, so I won't be able to get back to you for a couple of hours. Hope we're getting somewhere!

I'm back.

This is what the neighborhood Toyota dealer told me:

-90B00 is the "motor_pump assy" and

-22080 is the "window washer motor"

As I suspected, the -22070 number did not yield anything, even at the dealer, indicating either it was discontinued or was the wrong number (my guess).

Anyway, they did not show any in stock on their system. If the manufacturer of the pump has them then I can get one in a few days at the most. If not, then it could take a few weeks.

Let me know if I can help you!

Mot :)

I might be way out, but if your looking for a washer motor #85310 most toyota cars use the same motor, unless you're looking for a 24 volt one, try pick'n'pull in Westbank. If you take the whole tank asembly from a toyota tercel there are 2 pumps for 6 bucks.

Thats what I was thinking...is it possible to retrofit some other pump ie. crappy tire or NAPA generic part? silicone up any leaks..

just a thought.
Johnny

I had a leaky wascher tank in my BJ74, got a tank out of a tercel and poped the wascher motor out of it and stuck my 24 volt pump in,same pump just 24 volts.

Richard,

Just an FYI:

-90B00 can also be found in the following rigs:

'9001-'9305: HZJ73, 77, PZJ7#
'9305-'9908: HZJ70, 73, 77, PZJ7#
'9001-'9305: HZJ73, 77, PZJ7#, HT
'9305-'9908: HZJ70, 73, 77, PZJ7#, HT

As others have said, maybe you can just fab it up from another rig.

Let me know if I can help you though.

GOOD LUCK!

Mot

IMHO, just leave it disconnected. Come on, it's a Landcruiser, not a Lexus. ;)

OK thanks Guys. Another lead.
Mot I guess the dealer gave me the wrong # after the base part number..
The drawing is the wrong one.. The drawing I referred to has the pump on it's side diff tank etc... Just for your info..

Still got some other feelers going..

Thanks again for the help.

Sorry for the wrong diagram, I re-did my search and finally I got it.

-85310-22100 '9004-'9305 Headlamp cleaner washer motor & pump assy for LJ7#

Good luck with your search and let me know if I ... well ... you know what I'm going to say. ;)
