Don't blame you I was burned out too after the HG.

Burned out is an understatement! P.S, i WILL be contacting you when i do my HG. Think we could do it in a weekend?

Strong work Kevin. Looks good.

Thanks, it was much more involved, expensive, and labor intensive then originally thought but the 800 mile range is WELL worth it!

You don't happen to have a side shot showing how much it hangs down compared to oem spare tire, resonator, etc...

no, but i could snap one if you keep reminding me! :D i can tell you though, it tucks up a decent amount HIGHER then the stock spare, go figure a 44 gallon tank has more ground clearance then a 30in tire! Gotta love the Aussies!

By the way, why do the Japanese Market get all the cool stuff and we get the cheap stuff? Could it cost that much more to extend the visors behind the rearview for us too?

I dont know, but the Aussies get the coolest stuff IMHO!

:D

Give me a call or PM when you do get around to the HG. I can save you allot of time via preplanning. Depending on how anal you are and how much you want to do you could do it in a weekend. I chose to send off my injectors to RC Engineering and have my head machined, valves ground, etc.... So that took longer.

The Aussies do get the coolest stuff. UZJ100 diesel with straight front axle!!!!!!!!! I am in! :bounce: :bounce2: Heck I would even take a Land Cruiser Prado with the straight front axle.

I'm very sorry most likely I wont be able to make on this weekend.Kids and mother day just sometimes she felt I spent more time on the cruiser than the fam's.Well of course it's not gonna be whole day but I just remember now I had appointment with my buddy to refill my ac freon and leak test after installed the AC drier kit.

On the other side I really do want to shake my hand and meet all you guy also be able to assist you.Well if you can give time and location I will try my best to come and again to help.

No problem on the Yota red. Already made up my mind on that one.

7 gallons of distilled? Thought we only needed two for the fill. Total is just under sixteen quarts right? 8 quarts of coolant (two gallons) and 8 quarts of distilled water (two gallons).

Flush is just with hose water isn't it?

What time do you want to start this? I'm up early, but any time is fine with me.

No worries, you are welcome anytime.

Brent, I recommend that much distilled so you can do 1 or 2 flushes to rid the system of all the tap water. I did 2 hose flushes, 2 distilled flushes and a fill of 50/50. I am a little anal about PM though. This was also setting up a baseline fluid for me as I was unsure of what the PO had in there. 1 distilled flush (2 1/2 gallons) would be fine I am sure. If you get 5 gallons that should give you 1 flush and 1 fill with a little left over to top it off afterward. Also you will need 2 gallons of OEM red. 1 is not quite enough. I will talk to the :princess: about a time and get back to you. I have a 13 month old so I will for sure be up early too. I don't mind getting an early start. I will let you know.

Just to confirm a plan of attack we are doing your PHH, coolant flush, and belts right?

I will bring my extensions to get to the block drain. Do you have a Dremel type tool to cut the PHH clamps and Gear Wrenches?

I have a dremmel tool and it even has the flexible extension. Std pieces that came with the kit - I'll check on cut-off wheel and/or buy a couple.

I have std wrenches and a set of ratchet wrenches with the fixed angle to them.

Distilled water is cheap - I'll have plenty on hand.

PHH, flush and belts if we've got time and you are willing. I'm the grunt labor on this one.

Sounds good, I figure we start with a drain of coolant, change PHH, flush then tackle the belts as it cools for second flush. I may tinker with the vacum hose situation on mine after all.

Sounds good - I'll pm you with phone numbers. You have the directions.

HI guys, I'm a noob around here and just learning the ropes with a recently purchased '94 which I've just learned most likely needs a HG. I would really appreciate meeting a few local cruiserheads and watching some of this work being done. what do you guys think?

Welcome, Don. :flipoff2:

Most of us are anticipating tearing into the HG sooner or later, and if sooner, then hopefully as PM. Sorry to hear that yours is a priority.

Mud has a wealth of knowledge and experience, in fact, there's a dvd for sale by Idahodoug (in the vendor section) that details the HG replacement. There's also alot of willing wrenches locally to help you out.

Just curious, how many miles are on your rig?

Not with that avatar pic :flipoff2: , I may not be able to finish the work on time :D :D

Does that mean you can make it after all? I think we should make Don bring the girl in the avatar as a tariff.

Not a problem for me, but we will be at Brent's house so I will leave the final verdict to him. Brent mind of Don comes down to lurk while we wrench? I am thinking 7-730 am start as I have to be done by noon or so. Don you have a much farther drive so you are welcome to come by later if you want. I just finished my HG and I would be happy to pass along tips to help you along. Oh and welcome. :flipoff2:

Dan, sure you can't make it? Short jaunt over blood alley (74) and you could be there wreching and heckling. :D

Two of my favorite activities!

Sorry, but I'll be busy setting up for the "pirate party" by making my patented "Walk the Plank Punch" for the adult pirates. Arrrgh!

I might have to take a sick day just to do my brakes!:frown:

Bummer, I had to try though. Perhaps we could sample a little "Walk The Plank Punch" in big bear? After wheeling of course. ;)

Don - no problem with me, but I'm down in Laguna Niguel, so depending on where in LA you are, it's at least an hour's drive.

Let me know and I'll PM you directions. Only requirement is that you bring the girl in your avatar. Wife and daugher are out of town and son will be asleep and then off the mall to 'hang out' so to speak with friends.

Mo - 7:30 sounds good to me - nice and cool morning. Think we can really knock all this out in 4-4 1/2 hours?

That...could be arranged.

Man, good thing I went with the OME heavies, I've got a lot of booze to schlepp up the mountain!

Brent, you are on. I will see you at 07:30. We might be pushing it a little on the flush but worse case scenario you could do the last drain and refill after I go. I would be happy to leave the flush setup if neccessary. Your rig won't be down you just may run water only for a day. It won't hurt anything. We can talk specifics in the morning and do whatever you are comfortable with. I have some good time saving tricks. ;)

That is their intended purpose. It is a little known fact that OME mediums used to be all that was offered but after many complaints from the Aussies about sagging when stocked up with "shorties" ie  , OME created a heavier load set of springs to alleviate the situation. As all booze is liquid the weight can add up fast when stocked up for an expedition in the bush.

Eduardo you are one busy guy. Good luck this Sat. give me a buzz if you need any assistance.
