Perch I made for axle side coils.

Just tossed in here, nothing is straight, square or tack welded yet but this is the direction I am going.

Got all my radius arm mounts made, I left a lot of meat on them on purpose. I may have to mount the panhard to the front of the RHS radius arm mount so I will need the meat if I do. If I don’t I will probably trim them down a bit and yes I will box them in front and rear. I have something else in mind for them too but will hold off on mentioning it until I play around some more.

Touching soft bumps with radius arms located.

I have considered carving the bottom of the frame to give 6” max in up travel and to allow the soft bump to compress as well. Currently I have 1” top of radius arm to bottom of frame while touching the soft bumps. I may just space the bump down instead, we will see. Only other concern is tie rod to axle side shock mount at full lock. Centering the coil bucket on the axle tube makes my shock offset a fair amount. Won’t know for sure until I toss some knuckles on it. I can easily off set the coil bucket on the axle like Toyota did for packaging or……I can go HellFire knuckles! 😆😂🤦‍♂️

I did order shocks for the front, 12” 2.5 Fox with adjusters. Won’t see those until late August. I ordered a few other fab brackets as well including an axle side panhard mount. Holding off on ordering an actual panhard kit at this time.

Once the radius arms are set, coil buckets configured and shocks mostly configured I will move into panhard and steering.

Oh ya setting the pinion angle at 4*, that’s about what it is on my other 80 which is full time 4wd and I have zero vides or noise in that Cruiser.

Caster can be whatever I want, probably shoot for 5*, looks like it may be 4 or 4.5* already. When I ordered the Diamond some time ago I did request certain pinion and caster specs, don’t recall exactly what they were now though.

Contemplating the HellFires and crossover steering. I see more issues with packaging and up travel by going that route.

I think it will be the control arms in the way at full turn now that there on top as the steering arms are much shorter on the Hell fire/ ruff stuff high steer knuckles.
I'm a big fan of the tie rod in the back where it's protected but now the control arm are flipped there woefully exposed
My guess is that you know all of this 😎

It would be close but I don’t see that being the main issue with high steer, cross over and HF knuckles. It’s up travel, in particular I think tie rod and drag link to bottom of the frame rails.

Yes the tie rod being stock location is more vulnerable but two trips ago I kissed my tie rod on my 80 with normal radius arms. Getting the tie rod and drag link in front of the axle in a normal crossover steering setup would be ideal but I don’t really want to carve 3” out of the bottom of the frame rails. I like cross over steering and I am ok with notching it 2” or so but that’s my limits. I still may carve the bottom of the frame, I am thinking 1.5” though for up travel on the radius arms.

I can easily run a HD tie rod and carry one, even two beater stock ones as spares. Pickup conversion after all so lots of room! 😆

Wait for it as they say, there is more ideas and things I am playing with I have yet to reveal. 😝

I went with Hellfire knuckles on my 45 with 80 series suspension build. I also went with a 9.5” diff up front so our builds obviously are not the same. I went through three different iterations of steering draglink set ups to get the clearance I needed for the high steer with 80 suspension combination. What finally worked was a bent tie rod and draglink setup that is made with 1 ton tie rods for a Jeep. The kit I bought was from Ruff Stuff (others make it too) and I had to narrow it but it now clears everything.

Fun build, I enjoy watching others try something different.

I was thinking Diesel fuel pump ?

Accutune had said late August for my shocks, got an email this morning saying they shipped today. 😆🤷‍♂️

Ordered the 70-series frame side coil buckets out of Japan. It’s just easier than hacking off and cleaning up the ones still on the frame here.

Cheers

The before pics of the pump, posted earlier in the thread. Let’s get it here on the same page as the fresh rebuilt pump. 😌

How are the 70s cool bucket different? Different height?

Built from slightly thicker steel and more flare or flange around the outside edge for more strength. About it besides using a slightly different bump stop and a coil spring 1” smaller in diameter.
