I have started noticing recently that the hazard lights switch is not illuminated (see pictures).

Surely it must be illuminated, on other cars I have seen it being illuminated even when the car is not started yet, or is this how TLC100 are from the factory - w/out illuminated hazard lights switch?

Put a bulb in it.

Thank you for confirming it for me.

Do you (or anyone) know what bulbs does it take so I buy it BEFORE taking it apart?

I noticed yours is a bit different than mine

Hazzard 'button' should be the same as mine. The bulb # I will have to see if I can find. I replaced one years ago and probably saved the information somewhere.

great looking forward!

If you remember the place you ordered it from (if ordered online) that would help too, as I am guessing there will be some very special type of bulb, no?

Toyota part #90010-09015 is what I had written down. Trouble now is.... I don't remember if this was for my 80 series or 100 series (they might be the same). If I remember it was a T-4 type bulb and screw in plastic base.

Thank you, I will start from here.

Cheers!

Wow, many thanks for that! I guess once I start taking the panel with button apart everything will be clear and common sense I suppose? Did you have any surprises when doing it, do you remember?

I will attempt this tomorrow, really keen on doing it to be honest...

No, it's very simple. One thing to know about the bulbs with the 'twist in base' is that they only turn 1/4 turn to install or remove. Actually the bulbs are separate from the base, but typically sold together.

does the 03+ model have it lit? Mine doesnt light up and i would think it would be a requirement to light up the hazard switch hmmm.

oddly enough this happened/happens on my 80 and 100, try tapping the switch or firmly engaging it. mine was/is intermittent on both trucks.

My 06 does not have it lit, but I can’t say I ever questioned/investigated whether it should be

Pop it out of there and look on top of the switch. IF you see a round plastic screw in bulb base (and I expect you will) that is your bulb. Turn it 1/4 turn and remove it. Install a new one (1/4 turn) and you're done.

Pretty sure those are the same ones that are used for the PRND2L bulbs on the dash cluster. If so, I purchased a bunch from ToyotaPartsDeal.com, think they were like $1ea. or something, grabbed a handful just so I have spares.

Does it pop out from the front (the switch cover) with a bit of prying or do you need to remove the trim and work on it from the back?
I was wrong, please follow the thread below, I will be adding pictures as I just started taking it apart.

It comes as a single part with the base so you have to take it out from behind you cant just pull it away from the base it is not a wedge type bulb it is acually wired into the base it is pretty easy though just pry out the entire trim start from the bottom with a plastic pry tool and work your way around then unplug the hvac controls from behind (4 connectors in total at least in mine) then unscrew a bunch of screws and remove the plastic cover ( mind that it is still connected to the face plate by a cable so be mindful of that) then the bulbs will be there 8 of them on mine ( it has a manual hvac control not auto like the hdj)

Anyone have pics or a link to removing this portion of the dash trim? On my 2003 the portion holding the CDL, ant, & hazard separates from the dash trim and I need to open up to remedy this. I'm always shy about trim pieces for fear of breaking tabs....
