Yes they are three distinct things. Not sure why thats difficult to followThe trouble is, you mentioned three different things in your original post, and haven't been clear about which you did when, or what your current setup is:
-turning off the eco light
-driving in sport mode
-adding a throttle controller
Most of us are pretty sure that if you a) didn't have a throttle controller, and b) drove in "normal" rather than "sport" mode, there'd be no difference in performance with or without the eco light turned off.
I ended up installing the shiftpower, after the shutting of ECO mode thing. I end up driving in "sport" (S3/S4, etc) and the shiftpower set to 50% gainOP: What throttle controller did you install? Have you removed it from vehicle as well?
I really have nothing technical to add…. In nearly 8 years of ownership I’ve never experienced ECO mode on or off having a performance effect nor saw any other reports here or on other forums as it having an effect. I have many different FSMs and never came across any documentation stating it did as well. Sport mode does have an effect so I could look at non-sport as ECO mode I guess (light on or off).
Those creating some of the new performance maps would be able to settle the case of any coded changes that occur with the light on or off.
It's like the Homer Simpson "everything is ok alarm" where the alarm sounds every 5 seconds unless something is not okAgree that it would make more sense to have a "BSM Off" indicator in yellow, instead of a bunch of green BSM, RCTA, etc etc
No, not like that. Like the pic in the manual i posted. It looks like a globe
I turned off the indicator as soon as I bought the vehicle. I hate unnecessary dash lights, and wish I could turn off the Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Departure Alert lights.
Per my 2022’s owner manual, the light is indeed only there to indicate when you’re driving “economically”. There’s no real eco mode, so no throttle or shift changes. The only way to really have a “drive mode” is if you have the Luxury trim with the adaptive variable suspension.View attachment 3736266
NO! No it didnt. For the umteenth time, I added the throttle controller WEEKS AFTER I noticed the difference of just turning off ECO.Adding a throttle controller is what changed your throttle response. Not turning off the ECO light.
