I may be removing one of my front door panels this weekend and wanted some advice. First off the "padding" on the door for your knee isn't padding it is fake leather covered granite. Second the door rings like a bell and I want to see about maybe adding sound deadening. If anyone has an idea I'm all ears, which does make it difficult to drive but my sonar is amazing.

I pulled my LC24 doors apart, lined them with deadening, and upgraded the speakers.

The door trim is pretty easy, there are 3 screws that need to be removed, 1 behind the plate in the door lever, and 2 behind the mid-door handle, then the rest just pops off, its easier if you have a wide trim tool

How much of an improvement do you hear with the deadening? Did it make the doors sound solid when closing?

The deadening made a small improvement with highway noise, i was hoping for more, but the LC24 is built pretty solidly already so not much room for improvement there I guess. It really helps with the stereo though, much cleaner, louder bass and it resolved a few rattles at extreme volumes.

I used NVX Stealth Black 90 mil Thick, which is pretty heavy. It probably added a few pounds to each door, and they really close like a bank vault now.

I'm sorry what is an LC24? Is it the same as a 250 or is it something else? When I owned an 80 we called it an 80 when I had 2 100s we called them a 100. Now I have a 250 and we call them 250 because there are going to be other years of the 250.

Hah sorry to add to the confusion, I am new to the whole nomenclature. I mean the 2024 toyota land cruiser, I wasnt sure how to differentiate that with the gx550 (is that also an lc 250?!?)

Don’t be sorry. Call it whatever makes you happy.

Adding mass helps with buzzing panels by lowering the resonance frequency, to absorb or kill road noise, you need something like a sheet of mass loaded vinyl and some insulating foam. It's all about how deep the rabbit whole you're willing to go.
