Has anyone had their 100 repainted?

My truck is about to turn 14, and the paint is getting pretty faded. Not in bad shape, just tired looking. I've always loved the FJ40 and 60s that were painted a sort of sand/ off white color. I have no idea what it is called. I've been tossing around the idea of having my truck repainted in that color. Anybody ever seen a 100 repainted oIn one of the classic Land Cruiser colors that was never offered fort he 100?

I've been thinking about doing the same.

That is a great color. Post photos for us after you're done

Sent from the future to protect John Conner.

Yep! That's the color I'm talking about. Wondering what a reasonable cost for a paint job is.

I had mine repainted in 2008. It cost about 6,700. Stripped all the trim off and then fixed dents, base/clear.

What color is your truck now? If it's white, and you just want an exterior repaint with minor body work, you're probably looking $3-4k for a decent job.

If you're talking about changing colors completely, underside of hood, door jambs, etc you can likely double that if not more. That's a lot of work...and a lot of product.

Look into having it wrapped. Very cool looking.

Yeah for 3-4 k I think I'll just make do with the paint I've got! Truck is currently white.

A good repaint is a lot more expensive than people realize. All the disassembly, prep work, body work, sealer, base, clear, reassembly, etc. You'll easily have over $1,000 in materials alone, likely closer to $1,500 with a full exterior repaint.

A wrap isn't a terrible idea....they look cool and might be about half the cost. Or like you said, live with what you've got!

You could always look into "the $50 paint job" or plasti dip the whole thing dipyourcar.com

Might try getting it professionally buffed by someone who knows what they are doing. You mentioned your paint was in good shape, but "tired" looking. Sounds like the perfect candidate for a buff. I've seen some extremely average paint look amazing after a good polish.

My front rear bumper covers are chipped and scratched. Repainting is about $500 each at a body shop.

Has anyone coated theirs in Rhino Liner or x-liner? Seems it would be cheaper and way more durable.

I can't imagine spending that kind of money then taking it through heavy brush. Seems like it would be a fun-inhibitor. YMMV.

Not sure where you are located, but that seems really steep. Both bumpers can be easily painted while on the vehicle and should not require any blending or extra work.

It's less expensive if you take them in separate. Saves a good shop the cost of masking, saves a bad shop over spray.

I just had the paint buffed on mine. Guy worked on just the paint for 8hrs and when he was done the paint looked almost new. Its back to having a lot of depth, shine and it has its mirror finish back. Some of the deeper pin stripes are still there and there is some light swirl left but for $250 its hard to beat. The guy doing it said it was his best transformation, he is used to doing BMWs and exotics lol.

If you take the bumpers off the truck and drop them off at the shop, you'll likely get a much better price. They're really easy to tape off, but a shop would much rather just have two bumpers sitting on stands than the whole vehicle sitting there taking up space for a small job like that.

Must be a labor of love for him. 8 hrs for $250 = cheap!
