I've come to the realization that the factory horn is not only embarrassing, but probably unsafe.

Has anybody replaced it with an aftermarket horn that is louder and deeper?

Autozone lists a stock replacement as 112 decibels, 500 Hz.

they also have an extra loud version at 132 decibels

does anybody know if the 112db@500hz is the same as what the vehicle comes with stock? Has anybody used either of these replacements?

No, but I've thought about it. I really like the sound if the horn on our 2012 Jetta Sportwagen. So I've thought about trying to install one of those.

I recently replaced mine with the PIAA Super Bass Horn...I wanted something deeper and more truck like. Needless to say it does the job, and does it well. Lots of threads on here about various horns though

After the OEM horn stopped...then came the Hella Supertones...they proved even more unworthy. So the past 2+ years the PIAA Dual Tones have not only sounded off with more dB but knock on wood have survived the challenge. Motorists actually jump when the PIAA's sound off :)

Stebel Nautilus is the ticket....have it installed on my motorcyle and it sounds like an 18-wheeler knocking on your back door. If I were to replace or add horn conspicuity, I'd use another Stebel.

You also can look at the Premium LX 570 horns on E-Bay. They are very loud and deep.

Here is the you tube link to my horn upgrade.
Mid 80's four note horn set from a caddy.
Very loud

dude thats awsomeeeeeeeee

is that a airhorn?

Replaced the 100 series Corolla horn with the JDM 200 Series Premium Horn.

Night and day difference.

Plus, it was all plug and play.

My LX has a decent horn but my LC sounds like it got it's horn out of the Corolla parts bin. I was going to get a horn off of a junker LX somewhere but this thread has me thinking lol...

Hmmmm. What year LC 100 are we talking about? I thought the horn was fine, but maybe I'm jjst not using it enough. Lol.

Mine's a MY 99, but I think they fit all 100 series MYs.

It could be me, but my 2006 horn sounds like a truck horn for sure. I have a 99 4runner and that horn sounded like the roadrunner horn. I did swap that out with one from Chevy. The LC sounds the same as a domestic I thought.
