I can't believe Jon hasn't reminded us about this. I just saw a news story about it. Jon - will there be any apple squishing this year? News story says this weekend, 10/8 and 10/9, from 10 - 2 each day.

Cruiser content? :flamingo:

Yep, this weekend. Harvest Festival

Here is the inside skinny. Like many apple growers in NM we were affected by the May 1st freeze. We didn't have a crop failure, but our yield was significantly less than last year.

That said, we have enough apples to make about 400 gallons, which is what we sold last year. Unlike last year, we will not be selling whole apples. The inside skinny is all of the cider made on Saturday will be from our apples. Saturday's cider will also have mixed in some apples from the Heritage Orchard. On Sunday, we will be mixing in store-bought Fuji and Granny Smith with our apples, mostly during the afternoon pressings.

Our cider will have from our orchard: Super Chief (a Red Delicious spur), Golden Delicious, Fuji, Macintosh, Red Rome, Ida Red. Our apples were organically grown this year, but we are not certified.

Gallon: $6
Half gallon: $4
Cider vinegar (qt): $7

The vinegar was made from last year's cider.

Cider is fresh and NOT pasteurized. Press will run intermittently from 10am - 2pm both days. There will be other things going on around the farm (see website link). I'll be on the press, so look for me in the barn. There is a chance I might cover the wagon rides at lunch. We will unhook the New Holland and I'll drive the Farmall ... assuming Lucille is not her temperamental self.

Just the dominques.

Biggest Harvest Festival ever. Sold over 570 gallons of cider (400 last year) and 140 quarts of cider vinegar. 4600 people for the whole weekend.

What was your cut?

Beno gets 40% of everything we buy from AmToy. I think Dan gets 50%.
