couple of questions

are they all supposed to look the same? The ones under the front doors look different
is the disc connected to the nut or is it separate? and is the disc supposed to be up against the rubber?

AHC just spoiled you and much of the cracks and joints are intended to be absorbed by the tire sidewalls.....so if you have E rated tires it is going to be something you notice no matter how soft the suspension as the little joints dont cause springs to compress at all if any.....tires are important part of the quality of ride in any vehicle....and when we go from plush suspension and street all weather tires to offroad suspension with aggressive offroad tires with thick sidewalls for durability......the ride suffers most in the area you are describing in my opinion. Also check body mounts to see if they need replacing...as they wear too and can transfer this as well.

Great suggestion on the body mounts!
However, I recently replaced all four shocks and found that it significantly decreased the effects of all those small road hazards. Yes, the E rated tires and 12 year old body mounts don't help, but it was instantly noticeable improvement with new shocks.

Maybe that's why we should put that big iron hockey puck back on the frame?

naw....i tore mine off last trip to Uwharrie and there is no difference....with my E rated Trail Grapplers LOL I can run over a nickel and tell you if it is heads or tails by the end of a 4 hour drive. :)

My truck is getting better. New tires of the same type (D rated Nitto TG's) helped, as did OEM v OME shocks. So did OEM v OME springs and t-bars, but there is still some jarring there. All new body mounts (sans hardware) is > $600. Then I'd have to do all rear CA bushings (or CA's period, since I don't think the bushings are available). Then there's the fron diff bushing and the sway bar bushings and the UCA and LCA's...

Actually I dove under the front of mine last night and checked the front 2 body mounts and they don't look that bad at all. The ones in back seem worse. I'm going to start soaking them in PB Blaster for a couple days and see if I can tighten them up a bit.

$600 for new body mounts? That's insane.

musky-

when you were under there were the discs flush up against the rubber bushings? or was there a gap?

funny you ask - when i was under there a cpl weeks ago i noticed two back ones had gap and i thought it was a problem. now im wondering if that's how the two rear ones should look? will have to snap pics when i have a chance..

Well, being the lucky person I am. I found out it's my rear body mount that is completely gone, the entire body mount is mangled from landing on it a few months ago. I also have this banging sound upfront, I have a feeling it's another loose body mount. I can tighten up the front. But the rear I can't do anything with.
