Harrop just announced they are working on a supercharger kit for the Australian market 200 Series Land Cruiser with the 4.6L V8. The GX 460 would be sooooo much fun with this... Power at the wheels is about 326 hp and 342 ft lbs.
Having dealt with the power train engineers at Toyota, one of the big reasons behind the end of TRD supercharger development was transmission durability.
That being said, I would probably buy one depending on price and just keep a spare trans on the side
Personally, I love the hundreds of thousands of mile reliability the stock drive train and as an overlander, the current drive train is more than capable for me.
Yes I know, I'm speaking for myself.
But there are those of you who wouldn't mind mixing it up at a stop light with a Subaru WRX STI, Mitsubishi EVO or some other little rice burner just to put them in their place.
Personally I'd love to be in the third lane of that stop light just to see it happens!!
I’m with r2m on this. My ‘18 Tundra with the 5.7 would be a riot supercharged but I’m concerned with blowing out the bottom end of the engine. Same goes for the GX 4.6.
Then there is the cost.......
YIKES!!! And with how top heavy I am!!!
Anything other than a straight line, I'll just go for a roll! I think that would be the beginning of a Darwinian exercise.
