Handling. How do I tame that front.

So the Aussie 60s w/ 2Fs didn't get the chrome front fender vents that the US 60s did? I thought it was just the diesels missing the vents.

As for caster shims, they are not adjustable. Get an alignment done as is and then you'll know what is needed to correct it.

With the lighter engine and the front higher, the caster should be better, not worse. Its the high rear end (OME) that reduces caster.

lift - I'm guessing 2"-2-1/2" almost looks like no lift

Shims can be found at most truck shops and usually come in 1 degree increments. Shims set under the leaf packs so no adjustments can be made, other than a differen't shim(also called trim packers, wedges, caster shims, etc. depending on location) ;)

yes, the SBC is lighter than the 2F

A lighter motor will not effect castor...however it will change camber. Shims are cheap and easy to install and as deep south said available in 1 degree increments. SOR web site has a shim guide IIRC...but I'd be tempted to over shim by a degree....it will help it want to track straight. Shim it and take it to an alignment shop to check camber and toe.

Where can i get a good explanation of castor and camber? I'm not really sure if I understand their true effect. Is positive or negative castor what I'm after. There seems to be a difference in opinion.

Also what is the full SOR web site address?

Thanks

Well it appears the web may also provide some additional cornfusion on the subject as well. Here is a link that explains castor angle the way it was splained to me long ago. http://www.rhocar.org.uk/buildtipz/011.shtml
...and here is another that splains it a wee bit different. http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/align.html
now I am cornfused...but not really...even though one says negative and the other says positive...just one thing you need to remember re: castor angle (call it neg or call it pos) when viewed from the side you want the upper behind the lower...think of a chopper...you want the angle leaning back a few degrees. SOR web site is www.sor.com search on it for shims ...they IIRC have an explantion of how it works on their as well....
