Terrain Tamer offer a modified output gear for the H55F to spread the load over a longer area of splines.

Anyone had any experience with these?

Will they mesh okay with the existing idler gear? (provided no excessive wear of course)

Any reason not to fit one when doing an overhaul?

No experience on my side, it have been discuss on this forum before.
You can't use a pto gear with this setup.
Less chance of twisting the spline on the gearbox output shaft. (Specially if you have a 12ht in front of it)

Very common upgrade in Europe as most people with a HZJ pull trailers and the oem short spline gear just wears out to fast

Are they considered to be an adequate repair for fitting to a shaft with worn splines on the narrow width of the standard Toyota gear, but good splines where the PTO gear sits?

Or only recommended to be fitted to a new shaft with perfect splines, to prolong the life expectancy?
